This is probably not the place for a discussion about religion. And anything I say will be considered "holier-than-thou". Nevertheless, I still take offense when you: 1.Take the Lord in vain. 2.Reduce Him to a basketball recruit. 3.Consider Him something you can use for personal gain. And to top it all you defend yourselves using contemporary standards of humor and no absolutes i.e. there is no such thing as right or wrong. I assume you also found the "da vinci Code" entertaining, enlightening, and "food for thought."

oldgeezer - try not to stereotype or lump everyone together when you post. I'm in full agreement with you about respecting the name of Christ and avoiding blasphemy as well as moral absolutes. But this was just a harmless joke. There was no malicious attack on Christianity in these posts. I am secure in my faith and enjoyed the humor... (And I think The DaVinci Code is a farce)

Drop the religious comments. I hear and see enough arguements caused by religion on the news every night. I don't need to come here and read about the crap too. Please take it elsewhere.

As a religious, God fearing, man I don't see how you can be offended by what is obviously not a malicious attack on Christianity. However, your opinion is every bit as important as the next guy/gal so i hope it isn't completely dismissed. I know that being preached to on a message board isn't high on most people's list either.

not to be a jerk or anything, but if people want to argue about religion can you start a new thread with 'Religous discussion' as the topic? I keep clicking on 'Mystery Recruit' thinking there might be legitimate information, only to find another argument about Christianity. Let's move on.

Ok, I finally hit a breaking point. I am a Christian but that doesn't mean I chastise other people for not being Christians. I get soooo sick of this intolerance, it is a reason why our country has become so PC. You have every right to voice your opinion and be "offended" for someone linking Jesus with a basketball recruit. But other people have the exact same right to post such a comment. Telling them that you are offended is fine, telling them not to post comments about Jesus is not.

Please don’t become like the groups of people who “are offended by the mention of God in the Pledge of Allegianceâ€￾ or the reason schools now have “winter break and winter concertsâ€￾ instead of Christmas. The reason for this is intolerance. Please allow people to express their thoughts/feelings/humor/etc. even though you might find it funny, distasteful, or disrespectful.

Ok, I’m off my soapbox now. Sorry. Back to Cyclone sports!

Now that is funny... Yeah Christians really have it tough... I can only hope and pray that someday they will be able to pracitice their religion freely in this country.... maybe someday we will even have an openly Christian President or Governor!

Listen, you've got the White House, Congress, and The Supreme Court. You've even got schools in Kansas scared to teach Science in Science class. All us heathens ask for are a couple of strip bars out by the airport, and to not be constantly preached at. Is that too much to ask?

I'm not saying don't talk about religion or Christian Values or whatever. I'm just saying create a new thread for the remainder of you argument about it. It doesn't belong under 'Mystery Recruit'. Just like me going to a Religious thread and talking about the prospects of Jeffrey Jordan - it doesn't fit there.

Why? Maybe we should leave all jokes or humor out of all our comment then also. I'm sure someone will be offended. Let's make this a dry and boring forum where you can only report news. Hell, let's leave out opinions too, why not...

Wow, Cyclone Fanatic's becoming "Christian Fanatic." It's so annoying that the bible thumpers ruin a perfectly funny joke with their mock indignation. Might be time to go back to Cyclone Report.

I have locked this thread. My personal stance has nothing to do with the nature of locking it... but the thread is no longer discussing the "Mystery Recruit" or Mens Basketball. Jeremy, feel free to overturn my call if you want this thread to continue.
