What!!! Did he really run a 4.75 !!! Tell me that isn't real.
He was sick during the combine and was advised to not run but did anyway. He ran a lot faster at the pro day.

If he is good enough he will make it regardless of where he's from or his measurables.
I have a friend from a much smaller program that wasnt on anyones radar that made an nfl team just by happening to know a coach that invited him to camp and proving he was beast mode.
Don't confuse reputation for lacking the same talent. He wouldn't have been a starter at Oklahoma and wouldn't have been drafted anyways. The people who had LJ going high in the draft were Cyclone fans, just like Collin Franklin was going to get drafted. I'm going to have to side with the guys who get paid the big bucks to analyze potential draft picks. It's absolutely a reputation issue. If Leonard had this type of success at Oklahoma, but than ran a 4.75 forty at the combine, he would still have gotten drafted. That's not a debate, that's a fact.
Guys that get drafted from NW Montana State get drafted because they generally run fast or do something that sets them apart to have a team give them a shot or take a flyer on them.
It's not an issue at all with ISU's reputation. It's that he's a slightly above average corner who didn't get many shots because he had the likes of Kennard Banks and Jeremy Reeves across the field. No need to throw towards him with those two on the other side.
He made some great plays, and he made some really boneheaded plays. He's not a great corner and that's why he wasn't drafted. Of course they're going to say they're glad he fell out of the draft so they could give him a shot. They aren't going to throw one of their players under the bus.

Congrats on being an *** in your first post, and welcome to the forum. I see a bright future for you here.Maybe teams were afraid he would lead the league in cocky personal fouls that allowed opposing teams to retain possesions?

You seem constantly negative about most issues.

This! If he was at a more prominant school, his 40 time would have dropped him but it wouldn't have knocked him out of the draft. LJ is short, his 40 time says slow, and he did not have a lot of interceptions because he tipped balls. Now, he is very physical which helps his speed issue and he moves very well. He may not have had INTs because he may have been coached to tip rather than play the ball. It's absolutely a reputation issue. In the end, I think he makes a squad and plays some. He is a "football player." He has "it."
You can't throw out a hypothetical and then call it a fact. Just because you say it's a fact, doesn't make it one...despite what politicians tell you.
That really is the question. He didn't have picks because it was easier to pick on Kennard Banks and Jeremy Reeves. Physically he's got the size for the NFL but does he have the speed to keep up? His physicality will help on a receiver at the line of scrimmage but can he keep up if he can't get his hands on them? He's a very solid tackler but not fast enough to get good breaks on the ball playing zone.
In fairness, he never really was given a chance in college to be a lockdown talent because he was just playing either left or right corner. He wasn't matching up play after play against the Blackmon's of the world.
