Was at the game, I just have to post something.

-lot of Cyclone fans there, I still say Austin is the best place to go to a game, fans are very nice.

-i have been to this arena a lot, it's very nice, but the crowd just blows. While it is way better than what they had, it's just not a very intimating place vs Hilton. It's just very manufactured, nobody has any clue when to make noise, the basketball IQ is so low, they just have no idea.

-be thankful for Hilton everyone, it's so much better than 95% of the places out there, we really are very very spoiled.

-Texas is very, very poorly coached. I cannot stress this enough. I would say they need to make a change, but they will be fine in the SEC, and be an 9 seed every year and they will be stuck with this guy.

-Tyrese has to get out of there, he plays weak, slow, and he's playing off guard, he has to get out this off season, his career is over if he doesn't. If I were him I would go to Kansas. I feel terrible for him, just a really bad basketball decision. Good for money, but he can get money anywhere.

-off the ball we really, really physical with Tyrese but especially Abmas, and it really bothered him. Gilbert gave him a very intentional body check right off the bat and put him on the floor, and then Tamin just crushed him off the ball on the next possession. Both should have been fouls but we got lucky. It was a very very good game plan off the bat. Abmas is just too small to really make a big difference.

-I think there was 1 foul called in the first 10 minutes. We were crazy physical right off the bat.

-Bob has a leg injury in the 2nd half, I don't know if it was a cramp or what, but he couldn't guard anyone, and was really hurting us, and Texas knew it. they should have fouled him honestly. This is not an anti Rob thing, the kid was injured and he needed to be taken out. It really was obvious at the game, I have no idea what was going on there. He even came back in after a timeout. It was crazy to watch in real time.

-I have no idea what that T was for, the Texas announcer was horiffic, half the time he just didn't announce anything.

-the game was officiated very very different from 1H to the 2H.

-the game really should not have been nearly as close as it was, we have by far and away a better team, but a great road win either way.

-we are not very good in the half court with a lead, it is what it is right now. the first half was about as good as a half as I can remember for any Iowa State team, simply awesome. the 2h, ehhhhh.....but it was enough!!!!

Go Clones!

I think Hunter would have continued to develop with Chris Beard. That has not and is not going to happen under Rodney Terry. As was mentioned above, he needs to get out of there.

I noticed during timeouts they would turn the lights off. Not sure at times if they want a sports arena or a night club rave scene.

This was my hope going into this game. Abmas can shoot/score obviously but he's a "finesse" player and he's little, should be too small to average ~18 ppg in the Big 12. Conceptually similar to Pav, Pav's a fine player too but he's just not big enough to be a consistent difference-maker in league games. I loved seeing our bigger/stronger guards shut him down tonight other than when the first ~10 minutes of the second half turned into a Hornsdown free throw parade.

Rob was going after a rebound and slipped and it looked like he ended up doing the splits. Looked painful to me. I’m guessing that’s what the problem was.

I've had a few glimpses of how they show video all around the angled edges of the ceiling. It looks like a 360 degree video ribbon board that is about 20 feet high above the highest seating. What was it like in person? Was it actual video, not just projections of images like at the Sprint Center in KC?

Was going to add the same. Probably grin or hamstring strain from how it looked

You comment about being poorly coached was very evident down the stretch. Obviously they didn't scout our free throw shooting the last couple of games. I would have been fouling the crap out of us the last 3 minutes.

Do the tarps that cover the top section of seats that they use as screens look as bad in person as they do from the TV?

Excellent write up.

Good catch on the BRE injury, which is possibly a reason he also wasn't dunking the ball. Even without the injury Ward is, on paper, the much better player to have out there once Disu got hot. BRE isn't athletic enough to flash from the box and guard the 3. Thirteen minutes without foul trouble mitigation is nonsensical for Wards minutes. Especially when guys like King and BRE were blowing layups.

Excellent analysis with the guards. Keshon played one of his better games defensively.

Sadly I've always loved Texas' fans. I was never treated as kindly as I was in 2013 or 14 when I watch our football team get destroyed at DKR. All weekend fans were buying us drinks, inviting us to tailgates, etc. But the school, administration and AD department is entitled and deplorable.

Not fouling down 3 with 40 seconds left while we were in 1 and 1 was baffeling.
Best case your going to make a stop with 10 seconds left, throw up a three to tie. Lot has to go right in that scenario.

Terry had to have just completely lost his mind there. 9 times out of 10 you would foul to extend the game there. When you are playing a team with our FT shooting woes, you foul 10 times out of 10. It's a no-brainer. Guy isn't fit to be a head coach.

I have two nephews in Austin who are born & raised in Iowa. One is an ISU grad as are both his parents, he is a senior professor at UT & was decked out in Cyclone garb as was his brother while attending the game. All Right All Right All Right as UT’s famous dipstick alum says. Chris Beard was a great hire for UT but what prompted the Terry hire? He’s in over his head, obviously.

I think Terry probably steadied the ship some when all that Beard stuff went down and had the players on his side.

Wouldn't Hunter have to apply for a waiver to play immediately if he transferred again? He's already used up his 1 free transfer and this is his 3rd season so unless he graduates and uses the graduate exception he may have to sit out a year for a 2nd transfer right? I can't keep up with all these changes with transfer rules anymore...

I'm not a "yell at the screen" guy, however on the last 3 that Disu hit when Rob was clearly stuggling to get out to cover him, I may have lost my **** for a solid couple seconds.
