Little McCaffery's Status for Thursday

Pitt lost to the Niagara Purple Eagles tonight.

Lil' Franwhich played 19 minutes, went 0/5 from the field and 1/3 of the line for one point total.

Not encouraging.

He is not the one we need to worry about, though. Garza cannot defend but he can score. Cook is still good. Bohannon can still shoot, even if not very much else.

Weiskamp is going to be annoying good for four years.

Prohm better have them taking this one extra seriously. Some focus out of the gate like we had against Missouri and on Maui would be exactly what we need.

Bohannon can't really shoot anymore but with his Super Bowl coming up I'm sure that'll change

I notice that even when the announce team is talking about Fran throwing a fit the camera will never pan to him.

When Iowa plays on BTN, they go out of there way to not show Mad Fran or the thousands of empty seats inside Carver.

This might possibly be Cytwins' worst troll ever. He forgot to mention these two (McCaffery and Reuvers) are friends from their AAU days. But I'm sure he didn't know that, even though he stalks all things Iowa and McCaffery. Embarrassing.
I rather have him stick his head up on a Hawkeye messageboard...
...I'll just take his word for it.

might be a good thing for ISU if he plays..though I say that and he goes off for 20

They'll rally around him and after Iowa wins the narrative will be about how they are so close knit an inspired by their Hok upbringing and the sky's the limit.

Details? I missed it today

They were discussing who might start in place of Weiskamp. Ross went straight to Lil Mac and said he was really what they were missing last year. Then CW said really enthusiastically something like YES I agree Lil mac should start he’s great.

They were missing another high school hero type that is generally ineffective except occasional no-look passes when no one's around?

I'll give him preemptive credit two days early as he'll probably have a huge night for Hok nation.

Thoughts on the game from CyTwins (assuming Connor and Joe play):

Iowa guarding us:
I assume Iowa will have to zone us most of the game which is good and bad. The good is their zone is easy to exploit, the bad is it limits Prohm's abilities to put out mismatches and put them in uncomfortable situations. Teams are smart when Iowa goes man to man and try to put Garza in as many ball screens as possible. His lack of ability to hedge a ball screen is borderline mind boggling considering Fran puts him in that position and obviously Iowa's guards lack the lateral quickness to succeed in it as well. If Iowa were to play man to man that would mean Cook on Shayok or THT would which be very entertaining to watch.

Us guarding Iowa:
The book is out on how to guard Tyler Cook already. It appears Fran told him if he came back he would let him play like LeBron without the talent level to do it. Sag off him and don't foul and he won't hurt you. Garza and Jacobson could be a good matchup. Shayok or THT on Wieskamp should limit what he can do. Whoever is guarding Connor play help defense off him and let him shoot from deep all day long. Looking at stats your best play would put the ball in Bohannon's hands as much as possible. He is shooting 32% from the floor, 30% from 3 and barely has a positive A/TO ratio. That being said this is the game of the year for him so you can expect him to play out of his mind.
