Linebackers

I as really impressed with the improvement Mills made last year. I think he is one of our best run stoppers between the tackles and his coverage skills improved a bunch last year.

I think Harvey has all the physical tools. I thought he struggled early in the season last year, but got better as the year went on. Hopefully with year under his belt, he can make a big jump this year.

I'm pretty disappointed to see O. Vance only come in at 6'1" since he's always been listed at 6'3"

Don't know where u are getting 6'1 from..He's 6'3..Jake Hummel is 6'2 and Vance is slightly taller.

I'm not too worried about the LBs really. We only play 2 of them the majority of the time in the 4-2-5 anyway.

Sure we don't have 2 studs like Knott and Klein, but we have quite of bit of decent depth actually IMO. Vance and Hummel will be very good too, although I think Vance is going to be a stud LEO guy at some point because his strength is rushing the passer. Not that he can't cover, but that isn't his strength IMO.

Yeah, I saw Vance play a couple times this past fall and he is not 6'1".

By the way, those two have the size right now to be playing Big 12 football. Hummel is jacked. Under Rhoads we'd have guys come in weighing 190 lbs and we'd be lucky to get them up to 210 lbs.

The coaches listed him at 6'1 232 on signing and those are the numbers they measured him at for his visit, BTW.

Ok, then Hummel must be 5'11" then.

It actually doesn't really matter to me. Like I said, I saw Vance play a couple times this fall and he's a beast. That's all I care about.

Not really concerned if our LB's are 6' or 6'3". As long as they are strong, fast and have a nose for the ball. Some of the best college or NFL LB's in history have been under 6'2".

I'm right there with you though. I actually think Hummel and Vance are both about 6'2. Plenty big.

Both of these guys have extremely promising futures. Vance is a beast and Hummel is about as athletic of a 220lb freshman linebacker that you will find (22 second 200m, 49 second 400m).

Zach Thomas, Jeremiah George, Randall Godfrey, and many others takes offense to this 6 foot bs. :p

BTW both the incoming freshmen pass the eye test which is something we haven't been able to say at this position for a really long time.

Ray Lewis was 6'1" tall and weighed 240 lbs. One of the greatest MLB's ever.

Vance and Hummel are plenty big.

Nobody has talked about Spears. He was a decent get out of high school with a couple of power 5 offers. He looks to have the size and speed. Does anyone know the story on him?

Also this team has some guys with really good size and some with really good speed. I'm a little confused. Harvey is a pretty good mix of both of them. As for size, the amount of size at LB in the freshman, redshirt freshman and sophomore classes are as good as we have ever had. Sutton and Vance will be bigger than Knott or Klein when they play their first college games. After a redshirt season hummel will likely be the same size too.

With six guys on scholarship for three position we're either going to have to be very lucky avoiding injuries or have a walk-on or two that can fill possible needs to have a chance to red-shirt these two.

We almost never play with 3 LB. Even against run first teams we stayed mostly with 2.

Granted, the depth chart list 12 positions. They still are three different position that aren't easily overlapped. I'd guess if we get an injury at Sam or Wil one of the red-shirts are coming off.

We only have two true linebacker position
