Lindenwood Open

Tough loss for Storr, 2-1 to #18 Longo. Seems like when he has struggled, it's been mainly due to struggles on bottom. Guess he got rode out for most of the 3rd and lost on a riding time point. Thinking back to last season, he was right there with Anthony Ashnault but got ridden out the entire 3rd period.

Not a bad loss by any means, but I'm sure he'll be disappointed.

He seems like a real coach able kid. I think the staff can fix this weakness.

Degen gets Boo Lewallen from Okie State. Former top recruit. Has past wins over Javier Gasca and Bryce Meredith (NCAA finalist). Another good test for Degen, who's had a helluva day so far.
 
I watch Degen several times this off-season in practice and I saw nothing that indicated he could do this. Defintely better under the lights and my hats off to him. Great day for sure. Storr lost stings and should never happen. I think all the success he had last season may of got to his head a little. I agree he seems like a kid that can bounce back and learn from this disappointment.

Colbray wins to move on in the consi side
Gremmel defaulted out with an injury. (He did get injured in an earlier match that I watched)

I wouldn't say we stepped back as much as we know what we have more. 165, 174 is weak for us. I wish moisey and Assad wouldn't have defaulted so we had a better gage on 125. Storr lost to two good kids, but i believe the should be beating, and he is more than capable of beating. Awesome job by degen, Dane, Parker, leisure, and Coleman.

Seems some got either physically or mentally wore out by the end of the tourney. Not the fight out of some guys, but the competition was a lot tougher also

Remember earlier this year when I said that expect Degen over Dante and Parker over Simmons in the lineup and you disagreed :)

Also, tough loss for Storr, not the end of the world. He’s still a freshman

I think it was more a factor of the competition getting tougher as the tourney wore on.

There is progress to be made and has already been made here. Just need to keep grinding.

Also, Degan isn't the kind of kid that wows you, especially on his feat. But he's a long leach that can grind someone down and whip on some kids that play to his game. I'm so glad we got him as a transfer.

I saw a lot of positive signs from the tournament.

125-Marmalejo's result was impressive for someone who we've not really seen in action.

133--Parker continues to show significant improvement over last year.

149--Degan--whoa, defeats both Jeffries (#15) and Dante.

We placed (in the Open) at every weight except 165 and 174. We had two place winners at 133 and 149

184--Pestano back to being the wrestler we thought we knew--before the failed experiment of cutting to 165 last year. After first round loss, Bush rallies to take the consolation.

197--Colbray, after early loss, comes back to take third.

Hwt--although he seemed to fade at bit at the end, Harrington has continued to show improvement. I wonder if he, like Pestano, wasn't cutting way too much weight at 197.

Overall, better team performance than at Harold Nichols and Drexel. Moving up.
 
Mostly encouraging results, some significant wins, and a little more clarity at certain weights.

Too many even numbered finishes though. Seemed like guys we’re getting worn out.

Looking forward to the Rider dual!
