Let’s talk point guards

Not bashing the kid but he brings zero offense to the team. For example, like today…. When everyone is garbage on O he can’t help out at all. If he’s our starting pg next year… this team will not make the tournament.
You're trying to out ZRF, ZRF. Just be quiet and sit over there in the corner.

Lipsey was a stud at point guard for a freshman. I have no doubt he will significantly improve his shooting before next year. He got invaluable experience this year. I’m sure other parts of his game will continue to improve and I see him as a cog in an ever changing lineup the next 3 years.

There were times I was amazed at the balls he got to or out hustled someone or saved a ball where many might have given up on the play. If he ever gets a shot...woah, baby!

He is also really quick off his feet. For his height he often elevated and tipped rebounds to keep them alive.

He’s got a nose for the ball and a high motor. I think it’s when he gets his shot and not if. Can’t wait!
He has a great feel for the game. You could see it in a few games this year where he knew his team needed a play at a critical time and he would beat his guy off the dribble to rim or he made a steal or he got a rebound. When his shot develops he will be a guy that steps up in those situations that much more. I think he could be really special.

Tamin will have a triple double next year which is rare in college basketball. He had another double digit rebounding game yesterday. Tim Floyd said that rebounding is about “anticipation” and “want to.” Tamin excels at both. I also expect him to shoot a lot more from the perimeter and shoot it well.

Lipsey does a lot of good. I hope they get him with a legit shooting coach and just bang it out for 6 straight months.
He definitely needs to become a 3 point threat, but he also needs to add a shot in the paint like Monte Morris with floater.

Great comment, should be made into a movie!! Oh, wait, they already made "Clueless" a few years ago.

The only thing that bothered me about Lipsey was how he didn't take advantage of how far people sagged off of him. I'm not saying start chucking 3s, but his defender was basically doubling the post at all times with how far off they were playing him. If he's not comfortable shooting the 3 then take the mid range 2s. Instead he drive to drive the lane, the defender wouldn't move, and he passed up an open shot to dribble into a defender and get stuck.

It sucks because he can actually shoot the mid range fairly well. Confidence just isn't there

I'm always astounded by the number of people who don't think our players can inprove season to season. Idiots.

I compare freshman pg to monte. Monte could keep defenders satisfied with hitting those big shots. Lipsey hasn’t shown that. Maybe he will improve this off season

Monte is arguably the best PG to play at Iowa State. That's a high standard you're setting.

If Lipsey would have had the offensive weapons alongside him Monte did, you would say the same thing about Lipsey doing enough on offense.
