. But at the same time they aren't the same position or even close to the same player so to compare this 1 on 1 stuff it's really pretty dumb.
If I had to pick one player to beat any other player in a hypathetical in-their-prime match-up, I'd go with Kareem.
For those of us that have watched both in their prime, IMO the easy answer is Jordan.
There were never questions, discussions, concerns about Jordan disappearing during a big game. There have been plenty regarding LeBron.
Don't get me wrong, LeBron is a fantastic player, but he doesn't have the mental edge (heck....no one does/did) that Jordan had and thus I think that advantage would also transfer over to a one-on-one matchup.
Jordan didn't win his first championship until 28 or so, right? I think early in his career, LeBron disappeared for sure; lately, that isn't he case. I think the real comparison will be possible when LeBron retires. Jordan did most of his damage in his late 20's and 30's.
Shaq would murder him.
Don't you need to dribble in 1-on-1? You can't just take the ball at the block every time.
Jordan might be the most clutch, mentally tough, and ego-maniacal player of all time. That being said, I don't see how he can defend LJ 1-on-1.
Yep, and at one point in his career Jordan was regarded as a soft, ball hog who couldn't win the big games. Six titles later and you never hear that mentioned again, and rightfully so. That was what was so silly about people writing the "LeBron isn't clutch" narrative when he was still in his 20's. Two titles and two Finals MVP's later, that talk has pretty much gone away.
Gone away? They were just playing a Dan Patrick rerun over the holidays and the discussions was how LeBron didn't show up in the game the night before. It was either playoff or finals last year.
It has only gone away...since last post season.
Jordan was and is one of the best defensive players of all time, that's how.
brb tractor traylor could beat lebron, weighs more.

Too soon bro, too soon.
Size + speed/athleticism. It's not like we're saying Bryant Reeves would beat Jordan one on one.
