Lard should start

Wasn’t Babb a Hoiberg recruit?

Agree, but didn't Hoiberg recruit Babb?

NWB was brought onboard by TJ while TJ was basically the interim HC while Fred was having his heart procedure and well on his way to taking the Bulls job. All props to TJ there.

So no, Nick is not a Fred recruit in my book. He is not really a Prohm recruit either, to be fair, but kind of from a limbo of a weird situation that summer. Prohm is coaching him well.

After reading all the Lard comments, I'm beginning to think he has fouled out of every game he's played this year.
I hope CSP can let him learn on the floor, not the bench.

Cam was great in the second and got a to of minutes. He was so bad in the first half on defense.

I think it may be as much Chris Babb's influence as anyones, given the coaching situation at the time.

Beverly is short but he's one of the guys that could stand there and not get backed down in the post. He did that several times when their bigs were trying to pound it.

I hate the ripping on the kid. He came here when we absolutely needed bodies and he's doing his best. I love Lard and hope he starts ASAP but IMO Beverly will give us important time this year.

Maybe start, but I am okay with him just coming off the bench to add a spark and getting more mins.... I think both him and Brase offer a hustle and spark that deserves more PT, I know Lard will more than not be teetering on a foul out a night with the way he plays as well, but the team just looks better when his PT goes up.....

I don’t think anyone is trying to rip on him. He just doesn’t seem to belong at this level.

Couldn't agree more. You can't assess Beverly without giving value to the minutes he provides that keep Lard and Young fresh and out of foul trouble. He has his limitations, and I'd like to see him limit his shots to put backs and open 12 footers, but he's valuable in ways that don't show up in the stat sheet.

Solomon Young didn't crack Prohm's starting lineup until Feb last year. If Prohm gets the same results from Lard then he did with Young, then I'll gladly wait. I am floored that Young only had 2 points, and that bucket happened around the first minute of the game. Those 2 on the court at the same time are going to be special.

Surprised that nobody has noticed that Jeff Beverly is this years equivalent of Merrill Holden - maybe this should just be expected of Prohm's early rosters. I'm okay with it, as both are players that are physically similar to what Prohm would have been used to @ Murray. Let these guys bang around with the other teams starters and then bring the more talented players off the bench with fresh legs and no fouls - looks like it's paying off nicely.

I think a better rotation would be to have Brase and Young play together and Lard and Beverly. I think Brase would draw more attention on the offensive end to help open up the game more for Young. With the way Lard runs the floor doesn't need the extra help.

I agree with you but the problem is Beverly cannot even get his put backs up without getting blocked. Young, Lard and Brase should basically get all the minutes they can handle. Brase probably can't handle a ton with his health/conditioning, and Solo and Young will have their foul issues from game to game. Beverly will still get his minutes because he plays within himself and doesn't really make many mistakes out there. Talley will also be able to contribute at the 3/4 spots when healthy.

"Beverly averaging 20 minutes a game likely isn’t in our best interest."
"Beverly brings nothing, why so many minutes?"

Those comments aren't trying to rip on him? Not to mention this comment.

I mean, Steve Prohm thinks he belongs at this level. What college coaching experience to you have?

Oh, and he outrebounded Lard, Young and Brase last night.
He out rebounded Lard and Young against Western Illinois.
He out rebounded Lard, Young and Brase against Tulsa.
He out rebounded Young against Milwaukee.

Its not like he's been completely useless, but Young and Lard are foul prone. Brase has the knee history. Beverly will play some important minutes this year.
