I know he’s a freshman and gets in foul trouble but man does our offense click so much better when he’s in there. He adds a whole different energy when he’s out there and he adds a inside scoring presence we need. Not to mention his shot blocking presence. He has a swag to him that I feel this team needs as well. I think he’ll end up being a player other teams hate but cyclone fans love. Not trying to bash Beverly but I’m not seeing why he’s starting over lard

I dont really think it is a matter of "if", it is "when".

Beverley is a steady presence and probably won't win you any games but probably won't lose you any games either. He also is much better at defensive fundamentals and spacing. Lard is often relying on athletic ability much of the time on defense at this point in his early career.

Lard gives us a boost on both ends of the court. That’s pretty rare for a 6th man.

He’s definitely in our top 5, but I like bringing him off the bench for a big energy boost.

I don't think that you are going to get much of an argument from anyone. Like was already said give it time. He is going to be Kane good. He has so much upside that getting there best means not skipping any steps. He is probably the most exciting player to watch on our team this year, and the longer it goes the higher he'll get (and stay).

Wasn’t Babb a Hoiberg recruit?

Technically yes..... But Fred passed on him out of HS and it was TJ that brought him in when Fred was out with that heart procedure and it was already known behind the scenes that he was gone to the Bulls.

Sort of a gray area, but I don’t think Fred should get much credit for Babb.

Prohm has done an amazing job of helping him develop though.

I'm a Prohm fan but I scratch my head at the Beverly thing. He's under-sized, doesn't shoot well, isn't quick or explosive. Yes, he works hard and maybe he positions himself better than Lard on defense but he contributes little offensively or in transition. My guess is what has been repeated on these boards, that Lard will continue to take minutes from him. it's helpful to have him as a late addition to the roster for some depth but I can't imagine him against Kansas or Baylor.

I like Brase in there more than Beverly since he can pick-and-pop from time to time. I wonder how his fitness is.

And whether Lard starts or not, I hope his minutes continue to increase and that we use some of the "softer" games on the schedule to work on the Solo-Lard combo.

(Hey, could Campbell turn Beverly into a middle linebacker next year :)? )

I bet he'll be starting soon. Let Beverly or Talley be the spark off the bench. I originally thought that would be Beverlys roll anyway.

He might start but I'm not sure that changes his MPG with how often he fouls.

Potential is through the roof, really raises the team's ceiling for the next 4 years. I'm excited to see what he turns into.

Beverly starts because he's surrounded by 4 other solid players and with only 8 players available were a couple bullets shy of a full magazine. It's kind of like hiding your weakest baseball player in right field.
