Lard commitment?

Verbal commitment but no signing so there is flexibility on our part. Unless he snuck in a signature last week.

Nice late get for the staff... Top 150 kid with good offers.

@EvanDaniels: 2016 PF Cameron Lard just verbally committed to Iowa State, a source told Scout.

Based on Internet rumor or an actual article?

I think CW was speculating this as well. Definitely the caliber of player that we want, but the lack of buzz about him raises questions about his academics. Apparently it was hard to find much info on him.

To clarify the early signing period is over already so Iowa State hasn't taken anything.

Next signing period: April 13, 2016 - May 18, 2016

The picture will be clearer by then.

It been discussed on ISU's Scout site. Nothing has been set in stone, but it sounds like there could be some large hurdles. Hence, the reason ISU didn't sign him last week. Keeping options open.

Never a bad idea to keep that relationship going if he has to go the JUCO route. Doesn't hurt to show him the love now.

I like that he sees the fit for himself in the system, gives him the incentive to get it done.

seems worth the risk on both sides if he isnt fully qualified as of yet, and beyond that its smart to over recruit so Im guessing were going to stick to looking for a transfer yet (someone is always going to be leaving/transferring). Hope he can make it though, seems like a super athletic kid.

I see our good friend Phil "Chode Face" Nelson has some thoughts on Twitter regarding the commitment, as usual with any basketball recruit. I wish I was better with Twitter ****-talking.

I don't usually block people on twitter but I'm this close to doing that to him. He tweets more about ISU than KU and also buds into my mentions.

It's wasting a scholarship if you don't find out until summer that he can't qualify and limits what you can do.

I don't know...ISU has 2-3 scholarships yet to give. Doesn't hurt to sit on this kid for a few months. He's worth saving a spot for. By the time they need to make a final decision on the spot in April, they will know a lot more about the kids academics.
