We are heading down for the tournament and looking for a place to have an anniversary dinner.

We have been to Lidia's a couple of years ago on a CF poster's recommendation and they did not disappoint.

So hoping CF can come through again. It doesn't have to be fancy just good food and a nice atmosphere.

I always go to places that have been on Travel Channel and Food Network shows. Here is a list of them for Kansas City. Pick the closest to your hotel or most interesting. I've never been steered wrong using this method for new cities. When I went down there last time, I went to Oklahoma Joe's BBQ. Was amazing.

If you want Italian, give Garozzos a try. It's pretty out of the way, so you won't fight tourney crowds. Very good food. They have the full range of expected dishes, but their veal is a specialty. I got the veal saltimbocca and it was amazing when I was there. Prices aren't crazy, either.

I'd probably recommend Gram & Dun if your not looking for something chain worthy. Otherwise, you can't beat Houston's, Morton's Grille or the Capital Grille.

Pierpont's in Union Station...great selection of beer\alcohol, really good food, and cool atmosphere.

Seriously, you won't be disappointed...and you might get lucky with crowds because out of towners may not know about it.

Stroud's for chicken and Westport Flea Market for burgers. Both are excellent and a little change from BBQ for which I prefer Jack Stack. Stroud's was recently named in the top 17 on Yahoo for chicken and Westport was named top burger in MO on Yahoo and was featured on travel or food channel.

I had what is to date the best steak I've ever had at Capital Grille in the plaza. Costs more than Houston's, can't remember the prices at Mortons.

Funny. I read this as KFC dining and was prepared to give many reps!

If you like sushi the wife and I went to Drunken Fish down in the P&L last summer. It did not disappoint. I'd consider that anniversary worthy. Also if the weather is good they have a rooftop bar that would be great to hang out on.
