Kane's Ankle

Kane's going to go for 24, 10 and 8 on a bad ankle and be the subject of "Magic" lore for years to come. You heard it here first.

That would be INSANE. If he plays, has even an average game, and we win, there will be so much Kane talk in the national media.

We don't play again till Saturday. I don't think further injury is really the issue, but his effectiveness if not 100%. Even if limited, offensively he can still be effective to have Morris run the point and post Kane up and move Niang outside. Defensively is another question.

I have heard he is working on an advance version of the eye-gouge. Hope he saves it for Embiid.

In most cases, this phrase is overused - but because Iowa State is a public school, it's certainly not irrelevant.

Not really. Most people don't know what freedom of speech means. It doesn't mean you can't be held accountable for your words, and it doesn't mean that an organization you belong to can't dictate what you publicly say. They can in the form of "punishing" you within the realms of that organization. So, you're free to say what you want, but it doesn't mean you aren't going to held accountable for what you say. Freedom is speech in no way means you can't be reprimanded by an institution or organization in which you have agreed to a code of conduct for.

Kane came back in multiple games in non-con after suffering cramping. Dude is tough and will play. I think KU gives him the Boise (and mostly everyone else) treatment and Kane knocks down 3 3's.

By the line moving 4 points, I think Kane is playing. I think he will be limited just a bit...BUT... almost every time I've seen a player play hurt or sick, they feel no pressure and often play out of their minds. In a good way!

Trying to avoid a thread derailment here but the bolded is exactly what I'm referring to when I say "Twitter bans." A head coach at a public school could reprimand an athlete for what he/she tweeted, but it's questionable as to whether or not it's constitutional for a coach to ban players from tweeting at all.

That would be ideal but with a bad wheel I think KU would be much better off forcing him to drive and play in traffic even though that's his strength when healthy.

Yes, I agree with you that "Twitter Bans" are different all together. In the end it's more about teaching PR skills than anything and knowing when to keep quiet publicly.

Wish it were his right ankle. Only bad thing about it being his left it that is generally the foot you drive off of first , make cuts first etc.. Oh well. Sounds like swelling is down a lot and he should play. Give a title steroid shot an hour before game, wrap it with maybe a cool soft brace and should be good to go.

I snapped this picture right before the one Kane tweeted. He's playing.

I would still expect we see a really heavy dose of Monte at the 1 to keep Kane from having to bring the ball up. Also I'd guess the percent of Kane in the post vs perimeter would be heavier toward the post.

Honestly I'm most excited about the fact that it seems like the ankle won't be much of a factor after the KU game based on this news. When he went down I had already written off the KU game and was thinking he'd miss this whole stretch of tough games we have coming.
