Last week an ISU coach told me August. He said everything seems on track.Think I heard he is still finishing up some class work and fully expects to be here in July. Don't quote me though.

As a life long Cyclone fan of over 40 years, this screams..... "No way in the world does he ever suit up as an ISU football player"..... IMHO. I hope I'm dead wrong.
Well, not much more to report. He did say the plan has been August "for a while." He did not seem particularly concerned, although he might not express concerns if he had any. I sensed that they are monitoring things closely, and he did say everything is on track. I will note that the poster who said July also said in his/her post that they were not sure. Can I guarantee he will be here .. no, but I believe he will finish up classes and arrive in August. Wish I could make you feel better. As a life long Cyclone fan of over 40 years, this screams..... Ahtyba Rubin arrived in August. He did alright. Everyone relax.
Rubin didn't "do alright" until the last half of his senior season. Before that, he was out of shape most of his junior year and was hardly a factor on the defense. The old saying that jucos aren't effective until their second year was certainly in play with him. The light seemed to go on for Ruben about 4 games into his senior year and he became a monster in the middle.
I think he played both on the oline and dline at different times at juco. As I recall, we recruited him for Dline. I think the previous year, he played Oline at juco.Wasn't Tuba, originally slated for the offensive line? That could also explain why he also didn't make an immediate impact.
if we lose to uni again, i'm quitting the football team.Ahtyba Rubin arrived in August. He did alright. Everyone relax.

Is there anything that doesn't scream the worst possible scenario to you.
You old timers (and I'm no spring chicken) can ***** and moan to your heart's content. Go ahead, do it, and drag all the doubters with you.
But if you have no optimism, you are done before you start. Despite rooting for an excellent academic university with an outstanding group of athletics fans in support, success -- as we all know -- is an equation not easily solved. Our weaknesses can be addressed only by coaches with undeniable personal strengths.
I give you Johnny Majors, and Earle Bruce, and now Matt Campbell.
If Matt doesn't get it done, pile on me. I can take it. But, after growing up an eiu fan (Forest Evashevski, don't you know), and attending eiu for the first 2-1/2 years of my collegiate academic career, and later becoming a sports journalist who covered on assignment Old Raisin Face for years on end, I have this to say. Matt is someone special in the arena of big-time football coaching.
I'm old and tired, and you can whip me endlessly with your oak switches, but I will not retreat from my conviction that not only is Matt the second coming of Earle Bruce, he will take this program to heights about which Earle could only dream.
No offense, but if you are on our football team that could explain some of our problems.if we lose to uni again, i'm quitting the football team.
Matt is the second coming of Jesus Christ himself. God got tired of us ******** and moaning about how he hates us cyclone fans and sent our savior in Matt Campbell. The hawkeyes will atone for their sins.
Might be a little overstated, but Campbell does look like he has a complete master plan of what ISU needs to do to get better. I know all the talk about the "system" gets old, but he, his coaches, and the players all know what is expected of them, and are all hopefully on the same page. They have done a pretty decent job of getting skill people into the program. The issue this year will be the same as last year: is there enough, skill, size and depth in the lines to enable the rest of the guys to make plays.
