K-STATE GAME: how will you stop Merriewether?

On your side on the posters directly saying KSU is cheating.

Also agree on the wrestling post.

The Youtube thing is a legit thing. It's terrible and you should be ashamed.

The Kansas argument is in our favor. We have won at Kansas more than you have beat them at home and they aren't our rival. ISU vs. KSU is not relevant in this argument. I can tell this point gets to you guys and that is why we brought it up.

The self pity is getting old. I agree.

Who the hell cares about Chris Merriewether? We have more to worry about than him in this game.

Because we no longer care who the competition is or if we're talking about the bench players or the starter, we know how it will end. Badly. You can try to evoke smack talk or analysis of this game all you want and fans on this site just don't care to do it because the analysis has been very much the same for mostly all Big 12 games. Merriewether may see more minutes than usual because K state will have a very comfortable lead with 10-15 left in the second half. So you're joke about how we are going to stop a bench warmer very well could be a valid question as I could anticipate him having 20+ minutes this game.

But you can continue to try to rub salt in the wounds of Cyclone basketball all you want it's pointless. For the most part the fans on this site can't feel any worse than we already do and there is no point in defending it.

Explain to me how KU's dominance of K-State in Manhattan they built during the worst period in K-State's history is somehow a badge of honor to ISU fans. I know the real reason (because that's all you've got), but I'd love to hear the reason you want me to believe.

Also: LOL to whoever compared KU basketball to Iowa basketball simply on the grounds that they're your rival.

You're obviously seeing what you want to see. If you want to squabble about KSU "cheating" or talk about KU go for it. But if you want a response to your OP here it is; X's and O's don't mean **** for this game. KSU is ranked so they will win. It's that simple.

But troll on, it's obviously getting you off.

This about sums it up. The KSU fans I know don't even want Merrieweather on the court much. I am more worried about the starters.

In KC on the 810 radio ketsman (who is a huge KSU fan) has called KSU style of play ugly and bad basketball. The refs back off on calls because they don't want to call too many fouls on one team.

Most college games get over in about 2 hours all KSU games take over 2 1/2 hours. Their style of basketball is just bad to watch. There is a big difference between good defense and the crap that KSU pulls.

I am aware of their style, which is why I do not expect tomorrow to be even remotely good for us. It's a bad match-up and we're coming off a blow-out loss.

These are excellent suggestions. I would add:

16. Sit down anyone who steps out of bounds for three minutes.

We lost this game before the season even started. No...No...Actually, we lost this game when we lost to Northwestern in Chicago despite leading most of the game. Since then, there has been no confidence to ever win a game again.

Couple that with us wearing pink on Saturday (yes it is for a good cause) and that equals a Loss....and a bad one.

Interesting comment, considering that the K-State-KU game last Saturday was the highest rated regular season Big 12 basketball game in over a decade.

Because it was to very highly ranked teams playing each other early on a Saturday night. If the KU/Texas game was a 6 pm tip on a Saurday it's rating would be higher. People are going to watch two highly rated teams play each other becasue it should be a competetive game even if their style is no fun to watch.
 
Alright, first of all I just found this site today because I was looking for another POV for tomorrow's game. I did not come on here to gloat or brag about how great Kansas State is, because I realize how easy/quickly you can flaw into the basement of the Big XII. My questions revolve mostly around Iowa St.

First of all; What actually made Wesley Johnson decide to transfer? I remember when it happened, but what was the incident that caused it? It obviously wasn't PT and there was talent there with Brackins and others.

2nd: What's up with Brackins? I realize he is avg 16 and 8, but this guy was projected as a lottery pick last year. I thought that he was going to have a James Anderson type impact. Different players, but still thought he would be better than Anderson yet.

3rd and final question: The season hasn't gone well so far, but why? I look at the potential lineup below and it looks solid enough to do well in the Big XII. Okie St-esqe.

C - Who cares

That seems like an explosive enough team to go .500 in the league.

A lot of people on here would say the coach is the answer to all of these questions. Most everyone here thought ISU would be a better team then what they are this year. ISU has had injuries and players leave to go pro in europe:no:.
This is the most talent that Mac has had since he has been here and they just are playing up to potental. The bottom line is that ISU just doesn't have the guard play to finish in the top half let alone the middle of the big 12.

Some decent conversation, I can handle. Gloating or smack talk just doesn't play here with the season we're having. I'll try to answer the questions.

1.WJ had a stress fracture in his foot. Problem was that they couldn't see it with X-rays due to swelling. WJ even had an independant doctor look at it and the didn't see the break. Anyway, everyone thought it was just a bruise and GMac basically told WJ to tough it out. WJ's brother-in-law basically saw that as a way to gravy train and started shopping him around to SEC schools (reportedly Gilespie at UK) for cash. ISU released him, but only to schools that weren't in that shady game. Huge shock to GMac and the program and now GMac IMO handles players with kid gloves for fear that they will leave.

2.Brackins, we just don't know. He has a lot of pressure on him. Doesn't have guards that can get him the ball. And IMO he's so set on improving his pro game that he doesn't work inside like he should. His rebounding, defense and toughness have regressed instead of improved.

3.That's the big question and why everyone here is so touchy. GMac had somewhat valid excuses why ISU struggled the first few years, but this was supposed to be his big year. 3rd year starter in PG with DG. Solid SGs in Lucca and Christopherson. A big time talent at SF in Gilstrap. Lottery pick in Brackins. Developing center in Hamilton plus a rebounder/defender in Dendy coming off the bench. What happened? Lucca left, Vanderbeeken (post rotation with an outside game) got hurt. Boozer (very good energy guy on the perimeter) got hurt. The team had all kinds of confidence early on, but that loss to NW really hurt them.

GMac changed his style to go more uptempo. Now they don't have the bodies to do it. Some say that GMac has too many sets and it is too tough for college players to learn. It worked at UNI because he had a bunch of hard working Iowa kids. With Big XII athletes, I really think that they can't grasp what he wants. The effort isn't there. There's discontent everywhere and the team has basically fallen apart. Mostly, they can't defend. What everyone is mad about is that this is supposed to be the season that they were building for, but ISU is an NIT team at best. And if that's all we can hope for, it may be time to make a change.
