I was reading this thread on Hawk website:
Scout.com: Over/Under 15 wins this season


Just got me thinking, so I thought, I would give everybody over here a laugh of my own.

NC Games In Ames:

Drake (Expect a win at home, but could be considered a toss up)
Loyola Marymount (Win)
Oregon State (Win)
UC Davis (Win)
UW-Milwaukee (Win)
Mercer (Win)

5 more games to be added to list...All of them are winnable.

Sat., Jan 10 — at Texas (Loss, but we match up well with them)
Wed., Jan. 14 — Nebraska (Win)
Sat., Jan. 17 — at Missouri (Loss, but if we make it our game, we have a chance)
Sat., Jan. 24 — Kansas (Probable Loss, but very inexperienced Kansas team coming to Hilton)
Tues., Jan. 27 — at Colorado (Should win, but funny crap happens at Colorado)
Sat., Jan. 31 — Oklahoma (Loss)
Tues., Feb. 3 — at Kansas State (Very Winnable)
Sat., Feb. 7 — Missouri (Win, again whose game does it turn into)

Sat., Feb. 14 — at Oklahoma State (Loss, new coach, but return a lot of experience)

Going to have a chance in a lot of games.

Total: 21-10 with a lot of games that could go either way. Win first round game and lose second round game in Tournament. Which would put us in the NIT at 22-11. If the ball bounces our way (which it seems to never bounce our way)...NCAA.[/SIZE]

Pretty optimistic, but good qualifier on not having the ball bounce our way. That certainly does seem to hit a rock every year, doesn't it?

I think 20 wins is an outside goal, but one that could be reached with a little luck. You are certainly more of an expert than I, though, that's for sure. Mac has done a lot with the cards he was dealt the past 2 years. I've got my tickets bought for this year. I'm just gonna be happy with a winning record, and the rest is gravy.
 
Considering how excited some of us were with predictions the last 2 years and how that turned out, you have to consider we are young and inexpirienced too. Realistically I see us flirting with a .500 season probably.

last year we only won 14 games.

This year we have already lost Wes Johnson.

Obviously you have more info about the team than I do, so what things make you think we will win 7 more games this year? What will change from last year to this year to get us to +20 wins?

You'll make a believer out of me. If these guys are playing together that much better, then I think Mac's offensive sets will work a whole lot better than they had been. His UNI teams did that, played well as a team.

If we can do something like that, we'll have a lot of success. 20 wins might just be doable!
 
Speaking of the thread on the hawkeye website, they're saying around 20 wins for Iowa. I was of the impression that with Freeman and Johnson leaving they didn't have much coming back this year. Anyone know why the optimism?

Alford is in New Mexico, and Seth Gorney graduated, I mean used up his eligibility.

Beyond that, they should be bad - real bad
