Sod laying has begun on the NW hillside.. My morning of productivity is gone
If you have ever laid sod before... You know how much it SUCKS to do it...

I'd rather do the sod work than the concrete work every single day of the week.
I'm a little shocked they're not doing it the fireman-bucket-brigade way. It goes so much faster!
Couldn't help but laugh at this poor girl's misfortune, being zoomed in on while supervising the guy working:

At a distance, this looks just like the lichen used for “trees” on my model railroad setups when I was a kid.
With that super dry hillside and the weather, I would hope either it’s not related or they’re done fixing and just prepping for concrete.
Otherwise, Ames is going to experience an extreme shortage of garden hoses/sprinklers!
I helped sod (summer repair) the hillsides in the 80s working ground crew. One never seems to sod when it's a cool day. Then to add to the misery is fear of it dying due to extreme heat. Oh and I had sprinkler detail as well. Not garden hoses back then. Major weight drag. But when you're in early 20s its prime time.
I'm guessing that at the current pace, the outdoor portion of this project should be done in about a month. As far as inside the SPC, I have no idea how far along that is.
Just curious. I assume they waited to put the topsoil down next to the concourse until the forms were pulled after the pour. Do they still need to do this before it’s sodded?
