It will also depend on when the Jacobson construction is finished, which will house some areas that are currently located in Olsen.
A detail that I had COMPLETELY missed... Trice Stripes! Pretty clever.
I think that the current move-in date is March. Soccer and Softball are moving in to the basement of the new building. Once they are out, I would guess that demo of the Olsen Building will start. We'll probably see that happen in April. Facilities/groundskeeping has moved to a new addition west of the IPF. That basement area of the Jake will be visitors locker rooms, official and cheer squad locker rooms, X-ray. Wouldn't surprise me if they are working on that now, but maybe they'll wait until this spring.
Basement construction has been going on for awhile.
Ticket office, marketing, and I think development are all currently in Olsen. Their new Jacobson digs are part of the project, too, in the space where Heartland Hall (and formerly the FB office) was.
I wonder if they even need Heartland Hall after Saturday. Guessing not. I would think that they would start working in there right away since there's no real need for team dining until spring.
Probably got cut to meet budget. The final drawings never look like the architectural proposal. Might be a further down the line thing they could add back in though.
Lights and all that jazz were taken from the project when the entertainment district was proposed. The changes to the plaza were made to have it look more like a part of the district than a stand-alone as it was originally designed. The Trice art and the colored pavement tiles on the ground all were implemented at that time
From being inside the stadium this year, I think it’s pretty obvious that lower level seating in the north end zone is in the long term plan. The new hillsides are graded almost exactly the same as the seating in the lower level. I don’t think it’ll happen soon, but I think they’re going to add some seating there eventually.
True, but I’m talking about replacing the hillsides as well.
I realize that may be twenty years from now. With where this program seems to be heading, that may be a thing sooner than later.
Our current AD finds the hills to be "iconic" in his words and he will never take them out.
1)I would LOVE to add upper deck seating on the NE corner which would be about 2,500 seats and then
2) add a second deck to the Jacobson Bldg (originally proposed but looks to be scrapped).
3) Still want an Arrowhead style press tower
4) and bricks or cement pillars to cover the NEZ video board to make it look less ****** to help the board
withstand more winds.
5) Video boards that extend the entire frame and get the I-State and Big 12 logo down
6) Rot iron fencing to replace the cattle panel fence
7) stadium lawn to be resembling more grass and fewer weeds advertised as prairie grass on the west side.
8) complete the above-ground walkways on the Reman Plaza green space and add a small MU style fountain under the space ship so space does not look like we just decided it was good enough 1/2 done. Which is pretty much what the University did with the project leaving everyone in athletics wondering "What the hell?"
I don’t think they’ll ever replicate what the SEZ did in the NEZ. That would put the capacity at JTS about on par with Kinnick, and in the age of falling attendance nationwide that probably isn’t the smartest idea. I think they’ll add some seating there eventually, but the focus will turn to expanding premium seating (maybe a new press box sometime?).
You might not have noticed this, but Cyclone fans appear not to care what attendance nationwide had been doing. They seem pretty contrary.

And not to contradict your point, I’m not sure how much demand there would be for additional premium boxes. I seem to recall they had a tough time selling the last couple the last time they added on.
But then, times have changed.
Obviously Cyclone fans have supported our teams better than a lot of teams in the country. But if and when Jamie plans an expansion, he’s not going to ignore national trends. Attendance has plateaued across the country, and it’s a pretty safe bet to say that will happen to Iowa State in the near future. We’re continuing to grow because of the success of our program, but we can only grow so much.
