JTS construction webcam?

My god... Kyle Field post upgrade is going to be INSANE. I wasnt a huge fan of the stadium. But after the upgrades I think it will be the best stadium/atmosphere than any football stadium, pro or college

You know Bevo won't stand for being one-upped for long. Darrell K Royal will surpass everything soon enough.

Underwhelming? It wasn't the best but it was far from the worst. Duke??

Duke has had success with their football program lately and are currently upgrading their facilities as well:

This is my first post so I hope it works. I took this picture a couple weeks ago when I got down on the field. Hope you enjoy!

Has there been any talk of having the Cyclones on the West Sidelines and moving the vistor/student sections around? I think that would create a huge advantage now with the SEZ being bowled in with noise and could really impact the oppent when running their offense on that side on the 50.

Uh...what makes you think that is "realistic"?

Ten years ago, there wasn't reason to add any seating to Jack Trice. Now there is. A realist would recognize that if the program continues to grow, that adding more seats is an eventuality, rather than a possibility.
Ticket sales are going down across the country. People would rather watch from home or just tailgate. And our fanbase is pretty well maxed out around the 61,000 point. No sense in making a big investment when there are other things that are more important.

A decade ago, almost every NASCAR track expanded because it was booming, and now stands are half empty. We're beginning to see that in college football, especially at the 100k+ seat stadiums. Quality over quantity is the direction of college sports today, which is why we see more suites and clubs added over massive new seating decks.

Yep, prepare for the era of games going on in big empty stadiums.

Yeah the best thing to do as far as stadium renovations isn't to add more seats. It's to increase amenities. I'd much rather the next Jack Trice renovation be to take out the bench seats and install seats with backs than to enclose the north endzone.

Press tower renovations.

That's the best picture I've seen so far that really shows how big of a difference this makes. That looks fantastic.

I took a picture of the south end zone from my seat in Section C last year with the intention of taking another when it was complete to see the transformation.

Won't the end zone look pretty much the same?

I'm looking forward to seeing the new end zone sections!

JTS will still be better than Duke...even before the upgrades.

For the stadium size, duke's stadium looks alright.

Theyre a school of 6,000 undergrads, in a basketball school in a basketball conference, so theyre never going to have anything huge.

Bingo. I always hoped the Jack Trice club (East club) would run from endzone to endzone, or be moved to the west side above the upper deck as part of a new west side tower. Either option could still be a phase in future development since covered and semi-climate controlled seats are at a premium during November games in Iowa.

We will probably good with 61000 seats for a long while. Hopefully the next round of updates will be facilities. i.e. new press box, expanded football facilities on the north end of of the stadium, etc...
