JT Plans

Kentucky's stadium looked almost exactly like ours when it was built in 1973 - same architect - Huber, Hunt & Nichols. Because of the same blueprints, Jamie said that he has been down to visit it. They filled in the end zones in 1999. Wow.

If I remember right, wasn't West Virginia's stadium exactly like ours when first built? Then later added to.

I suspect that the architects, HHN, designed Kentucky's first, then bid on our project with the same general plan, then also got the WV project with our blueprints. West Virginia's was indeed almost identical to ours, I believe, as both stadiums' lower decks are sunken in, on earthen berms.
We are certainly behind both in expansion since then...

lol, everyone here must really consider me an ***. I'm not sure anyone reads anything I post at all. :biglaugh:

I was looking for better pics  - I couldn't find it on the WVU athletics site. I remember it being Mountaineer Field, not Milan Pusker (a big time donor?) Sorry for the dupe :biglaugh:

Yeah the sides of the WVU stadium are nearly identical.

No worries. I thought it was hilarious actually.

I suppose, with a name like Milar Puskar, you better have some cash.

And here's one for Kentucky.... slightly different. The WVU one is closer to Trice, IMO.

It really is apparent that the Jake is actually in the way of any cool expansion...

Yeah, I think if the time came though that the right plan could actually incorporate it nicely. It wouldn't take much to incorporate it nicely. The big problem is that I see is that the Jake's architecture doesn't really go with JTS that well. They should have modeled it a little more after Hilton and it might have flowed a bit better.

Holy crap- ignore the hill in the foreground, and you're freaking looking at Jack Trice! That's really uncanny...

"A bad thing would be that they are right next to the visiting fans. That could be problematic."

Why not move the visiting teams fans to the corner where the students currently sit. They are the same seating category.

Couldn't you add a lower north bowl and essentially built it into the Jake with the current viewing/patio area turned into real suites. Bowling it up to the Jake on the east and west side would hide it's small stature. Still have the goofy roof however.

I've noticed the appearance of the UI student section ever since they got moved, and especially since the renovation, which is just another reason why it would be a bad idea to move our students.

Seating is going to be decided by money, not how it looks on TV. If Jamie can sell the east side tickets to the public for more than he can sell the end zone tickets to the public, do you think he'll let the students stay where they are and not take money that's just sitting there waiting to be taken? Not a chance.
