Sign me up for the "I don't like the gaps" camp. It's not aesthetically pleasing, and you'd be surprised at what filling in those little spaces would do to the feel of the stadium- it would add a LOT of "big-time" to the atmosphere.

Yes, they have. I saw construction trailers already set up in the south parking lots on Saturday.

Just to add to what you said, I saw some guys wearing what looked like hazmat suits working up there. Maybe they are doing asbestos removal??

Though it would be nice, at this point I would just be happy to get it bowled in. I think trying to connect the decks would be very expensive and that may be why they are not doing it that way. I vote for whatever method gets it done the fastest.

Having the students in the S endzone would be nice. Just to have one very loud end of the stadium to give us some advantage when opponents are in the red zone.

I completely agree.

I will be pleased when those current end zone bleachers are returned to Boone HS.

How about, say, the north endzone? Kinda sorta like exactly where we are right now?

As a student, I give a giant "F NO" to the idea of moving the student section to the south endzone. I sat in the current south endzone bleachers in 2005, the last year that the marching band was there, and being that far from the field really deadens the sound. The students are pretty much the only people in the whole stadium consistently making any noise, and we're right next to the north endzone in our current location. Moving the section to the south endzone would take away our home field advantage, separate us from the marching band (and I can guarantee you that they are staying where they are) and generally remove us from the game atmosphere.

Besides, we don't always fill up the student section seating. Even if all the tickets show up at the game, people cram into the lower deck anyway. I can already hear the old people whining about 'all those empty seats the students are leaving in the south endzone'. You really think the athletic department would give us the ENTIRE lower deck of the brand-new south endzone? Not a freaking chance, nor do we want to go!

You don't think that happens now, and if the student section isn't as full, it will be less obvious on TV if the students are in the endzone.

There is nothing to keep the sound in, now. They bowl in the end zone, that area will become the loadest part of the field. Aside, we all know it will happen because people will whether pay to sit in the current student section due to its vantage point.

I don't follow. What would you propose, having a 60,000 or 70,000 seat stadium that's half empty?

52,000 is fine for now. Get some wins, fill it up to that capacity, then think about expanding even further in the future.

You be rite Dusty...I think that a 52,000 seat stadium that is full, is a whole lot better than a half full stadium no matter what the size of the stadium!!

It could work, and I bet the idea is kicked around.

You've got 7730 seats to work with. The section in the middle is 460. Give it to the band, leaving 7270. Sell about 9000 student tickets, and ask the fire marshal to turn the other way.

There are four sets of stairs pictured in the center of the south endzone, which would provide rather quick access between the seats and field for pregame and halftime.

Why have the band NEXT to the students when they can be WITH the students (like it was until 1997, when it became "Hey, where's the band sitting this week?").

It's closer to the student lots as well.

Those gap seats are going to be the hardest to fill, just think about the angle you'd have to watch the game.

You would not think it would cost that much more to fill in the gaps, but I really don't know for sure!

You have to add in demolition costs to the upper deck. If you look at the lower deck, it looks like they're taking out 2 sections on each side to tie it all together.

Or a second deck over the Jacobsen building

That's what I've always wanted too. That way we could have two tunnels for both the home and the visiting team to walk out of and can do away with the blow up doll that we currently run out of. We could at least look like the real deal!!!!

Not sure what you are looking at because I do not see that at all...

It would cost considerably more, because you will have to retrofit to the current stands while building it to allow the upper decks to be able to move separately from each other. I'm guessing it would be millions more for not that many more seats.
