JP's next big hire

Jim Tressel. Jim Tressel. Jim Tressel. It's an urban legend I just made up that if you invoke his name three times, he appears in the Jacobsen Building to sign a contract as JP's new big hire. It's in our AD's DNA to make a splash hire that everyone doubts and complains about right away.

Or maybe JP will Steve Prohm it and snap up PJ Fleck from Western Michigan?

Either way, it's time to think about our next coach.
 
I don't know what we need anymore. I've been against another defensive coach because our last 3 HCs have been that and our defenses have been bad mostly. Then again I'm seeing teams in the top 15 that are winning because they play solid hard nosed defense with talent. I vote for Kevin Kelly HS coach in Arkansas. Dude has done same crazy stuff and wins...wins...and wins. What the heck..why not.
 
The only way Paul Rhoads isn't our coach next year is if Leath fires JP. And even then, maybe.

Pales in comparison to the cost of keeping him.

Senior day today and we had 7,000 empty seats. Next year, we'll consider that a good crowd. Especially since we have Iowa on the road next year.

Because it would be the dumbest hire someone could possibly make. That's why not.

It's called a show cause and it doesn't ban him. Basically the university would have to have a hearing with the NCAA determining the reasoning for bringing him on and laying out a set of penalties for him and the university if he screwed up again. It essentially black balls him but someone dumb enough could hire him. Next December his penalty is lifted but I doubt he ever coaches again.

You have got that right my friend, good old Jamie is greasing the skids for another 3 win year out of Coach Paul Rhoads and his "Incompetent Staff".... authors of a 8-26 record............

Even at North Texas this Coach would have been fired mid season............Rhoads Must GOooooooooooooo

JP has to be looking and CPR isn't naive enough to think he's not. There are a lot of good coaches out there who would take on this task. We have a great fan base who fill the stadium. We're in a competitive conference. We have an AD who is committed to growing our program.

I agree, I think there are plenty of good coaches that would like to earn 2 million or more per year at a place in the Big 12 with really good facilities, fans, etc.

However, I will be completely shocked if Rhoads isn't our head coach next year. I'm not saying he should, but I will be shocked if JP lets him go.
