JP suffers Heart Attack

A 'heart attack' can run a very wide range. Doesn't look like there's anything out there regarding severity as of yet. Hopefully it's very minor. Agree that it's at least a partially good sign the doctors haven't thought it necessary to move him from Allen. Get well soon, JP.

I don't think that Allen is any great shakes either (which is why I figure it is a good sign that Jamie is still there versus going to a bigger place) but my mom is a nurse who said that if the choice is taking her chances on her own or going to Covenant, she's taking a chance on her own. She's heard some stories. I think she's only half kidding.

I was born at Covenant...a long time ago though!

Allen has surpassed Covenant. In fact, pretty much all of the respected physicians at Covenant have moved to Allen in the last 5 years. Allen has also done a ton of building and expansion and is actually a very very nice hospital now.

Too bad its in the neighborhood its in, but its become a Top 100 facility.

They are both good hospitals. But Allen has always been the "heart hospital" in that area. Covenant did not even do open heart surgery for a long time (not sure if they do now).

Re: Jamie Pollard Suffers Heart Atttack

Prayers for him and his family. Can't image the stress that comes with that job. Live and die with wins and losses even though you have little direct impact on them.

You know why I like Jamie though? One time I met with him for something and was talking with him specifically about this...his response was "in our industry, half of us lose every saturday" and I was reminded by him of the role college athletics...granted, he does have to make decisions based on W/L record, but the role of the AD is beyond W/L record.

Saw this come thru on my sports alert, scary to think about how quickly it can all change, regardless of shape. Need some wins to lower his stress level it appears!

This could be him during the tourney.

I was thinking Dennis hopper in hoosiers....

I had my first heart attack last May. Not a fun experience. Two weeks in hospital, and then another 30 days in a nursing home for recovery and rehab.

I'm not sure how serious this was for Jamie, but he is likely to be out of commission for a while. Thoughts go out to his family......he's still a relatively young man. Listen to your doctors, nurses, and rehab people Jamie! They are in charge now.

I dunno much about heart attacks...would this keep him from being able to attend the Big 12 tournament and NCAA Tournament?

I had a heart attack a month ago. Was a small one and had one stent put in. My LAD was 95% blocked. Was off work for a week per the docs. I bet he will be recovering for a little while. Have a safe and speedy recovery. I'm only 44, good shape, no family history. You just never know.
