Josh Lenz

Yeah, I count 12 WRs on the 90 man roster. So Lenz would need to pass about half of them in the preseason games to make the cut.

Yeah, I think that teams keep 5-6 WRs, so while I hope he makes it, it doesn't look good. Gotta turn some heads as a backup (to Hester) PR/KR.

I think he would probably be thrilled to make the practice squad. That has to be the real goal at this point.

Lenz survived the first round of cuts. Still a longshot to make team probably but hopefully he can sneak onto the practice squad.

I think Lenz is going to get some serious playing time in the final preseason game. If he can do something special, maybe he makes the practice team at worst. There is still a crazy chance that the Bears part ways with Devin Hester altogether to free up cap space. That could also be in his favor.

Hester won't get cut, he's in the final year of his contract. Lenz won't make the final roster but he's got a decent shot at the practice squad, since they've been playing him on special teams. Marshall, Jeffrey, Bennet, Wilson and Hester are locked in so there's probably room for one more and a practice squad guy.

Chicago Bears | Team roster

He is one of 9 receivers on the roster. Bolded are locks to make the roster. (Bears fans can help me out with this, I really don't know these lower depth chart guys)

Alshon Jeffrey
Brandon Marshall
Earl Bennet

Hester (not even listed as WR though, just as a KR/PR) makes $10 million per year according to http://www.spotrac.com/nfl/chicago-bears/

Joe Anderson- UDFA last year, 2 catches 27 yards this preseason

Brittan Golden- UDFA last year, 3 catches 20 yards this preseason

Torrence Toliver- UDFA last year, 1 catch 14 yards this preseason

Eric Weems- 26 receptions over 6 regular seasons in NFL for 232 yards (makes $1.4 million)

Marquess Wilson- 7th round draft pick this year, was the receiver who had the run in with Mike Leach at washington, didn't play last year because he quit the team

For some reason they don't have stats for Wilson or Lenz from this preseason. His odds are a lot better than I previously thought to make the roster, those are some bad receivers on the bottom of that depth chart. Lenz's contract is for $500,000 which is comparable to everyone else on the bottom list except Weems.

Weems was a great special teams guy last year and will also likely be on the roster. They seem to like him on special teams more than wr, so his chances of making the practice squad are better than some based on versatility.
