It appears that Jordan Harris is likely redshirting IMO. Have heard some rumors that this is the case and it makes sense. Jevohn Miller's move to the middle has been a good thing. Plus it allows us to redshirt Harris as we have adequate depth there. Just an added note that Harris was a teammate of Demond Tucker, a very good JUCO DT. They would play two years together if Tucker signs with the good guys.

Just wondering if anyone has heard news confirming that Harris is redshirting.

Makes sense. They said he had a lot to learn about defensive schemes and being the right position. An extra year should help a lot with that.

This is a good move if true, IMO. Rhoads has always said how Harris will knock fillings loose when he hits you, but the Big XII is a step up from any JuCo. Case in point: KSU - who does not shy away from playing JuCo's - has yet to play D'vonta Derricott or Terrell Clinkscales. Derricott was a much higher sought/higher rated LB & Clinkscales a high-rated DT we were pursuing heavily. Helps with depth & transitioning from season to season.Expecting big things from Harris next season.

We'll see what happens. I'm worried about Miller getting exposed once they start seeing the faster Big 12 offenses. The non con schedule was right up his alley, but if he can't hold up in coverage against some of the quicker backs and TEs he'll occasionally find himself matched up against then that is going to be a huge problem, and they might not have a choice other than to try someone else.

Miller plays faster at the Mike than any of our other LB's. The problem with Meeks and others is that they are spending too much thinking rather than reacting. So Miller is our best option at Mike no matter what. Miller has played better at Mike than he did at Will.

So true. Its not like any of the other linebackers on our roster are more athletic or better in the open field.

We are already pretty under-sized at the backer positions so we will see what happens. If he isnt going to be ready its the better decision considering we dont really have a lockdown for the mike next year.

Harris is supposed to be a run stopper, so if we are having trouble with Big 12 WR's and their speed, Harris won't be the first solution. It would have made sense for Harris to play the first three weeks, as all of our first three opponents were more run-oriented than anyone else we'll play this year.
Just speculating, but I would assume Harris is redshirting. No point in playing him this year unless Miller gets injured and Meeks (maybe even Seeley?) can't figure it out.

I think Meeks might be more athletic. But he is thinking too much rather than reacting. The light has really come on for Miller this fall since he was switched to Mike. The plus side in all of this is that Luke Knott is now on the field and always is in the position he supposed to be in. Harris could be dynamite next year in the middle and Meeks does have the ability to play outside. The future looks bright.

Meeks, Harris, and Knott would be a great starting line up next year.

I really wish they would have switched Trevor Hodge to LB instead of DB. He definitely has the frame, but not sure on the mentality. I just thought his speed and coverage ability would be a huge asset as a LB.

I'd much rather see athletic, fast LB's that need to be taught technique.

I think that's exactly what we'll see early on. Guessing that Meeks comes out in favor of Floyd or Northrup in passing situations (or vs spread teams).

Rhoads specifically said they moved Miller to MIKE to get more speed there

You want a 201 pound linebacker?

Wouldn't it be kind of silly to redshirt a guy who only has two years and he is behind younger guys?

They need more depth at safety than LB, but it still could happen. Guys seem to slowly move closer to the ball during the course of their defensive careers at ISU.

They aren't losing anything by redshirting him. If he's behind younger players at the end of next year, they could always just ask him to move on/not renew the scholly for the 3rd year.
