Honestly, if Jon Miller had come out and predicted us to beat Iowa, I'd be worried. But having "Cameron" from Ferris Bueller's Day Off pick Iowa over ISU despite all the facts available? Not exactly big news.
The same Jon Miller who stated 'You do not run option vs Norm Parker. Ever.' just moments before Jantz & White ran option a 2nd time for the game scoring TD against Iowa?
However, I do believe there is a greater chance James Vande Berg has a performance like he did last Saturday. If he does, it will be Kyle McCann all over again - booed off the field. Can be a class act there in Iowa City, you know?

First play is a flea flicker from White to Steele to Lenz for a 50 yard gain. Everyone thinks we need to establish the run, 50 yards later we start running all over them...

Which is a better measure anyway. And good job to whoever added in his rushing TD. I was impressed with Jantz. I just hope this is really what we are going to see out of him all season. Let's go Steele, and let's go Cyclones!
I think CPR is saving the trick plays for the teams that are better than ISU.
Paul Rhoads will call trick plays whenever Paul Rhoads wants.

I don't see anything wrong with what he said and actually he has stated that this year's Iowa team is really only a 6 or 7 win team.
The hoks better not forget this... otherwise Sunday morning could be a little painful after the pounding they receive.
I'm not concerned about our offense. What I am concerned about is kickoff coverage and field position in relation to that. I'm sure CPR and the coaching staff addressed that this week. On defense, I'd like to see them tighten up on the running game. Bullock quietly ran for 150 yds against an above average defense last week. That said, this ISU football program is so resilient and made adjustments last week pretty much shut down Tulsa after the 1st quarter. Run the ball, stop the run, and no turnovers and win should come out with a win.
You got some good ones. One of favorites you missed was that our win didn't count cause we didn't get a touchdown. Of course, when most of their points last week were on field goals, it was cause they have a great kicker.
I think someone else mentioned it, but the one I heard the most last year was how loud the music/band was and our speakers being inferior.
As for Miller, he is like many other Squawk fans who fear nothing more than a mobile quarterback. After all, they lost several times to Northwestern because of that guy they had.

Miller just elaborated on Jantz in his "what to expect" blog:
"Jantz: 32-45 for 281 yards, two TD passes and 1 INT (ball off hands of ISU target). He looked pretty good back there, one of his best games at ISU. Maybe his best ‘passer’ game…he was a freak against Iowa last year, but several of those plays were no high percentage and he just made them that day. Against Tulsa, his production was more consistent and traditional. Tulsa did have four sacks in this game. Jantz carried the ball 13 times for 28 positive yards before taking away the sack yardage totals."

I think you could argue that. It was a better 'quarterback' game, to be sure. What Jantz did against Iowa last year, he might as well been wearing a cape. dude was amazing and Iowa State was the better team. Should have never gotten to overtime had ISU not hurt itself so much.

I agree with Jon. It's not about the stats all of the time. The number of big plays and throws he made against Iowa was incredible. Tulsa was more methodical. However, the way he looked against Tulsa suggested that we may see that 2011 Iowa Version of Jantz another time or two this year.

IMO, if Jantz just stays away from the negative plays...the turnovers, ISU is going to have a lot of success on Saturday. Really worry about ISU running between the tackles out of those four-wide sets. ISU's bread and butter is something Iowa has not defended well since the start of last year and probably wont for another year or two
The first touchdown throw he made against Tulsa was crazy. I could not believe he got enough mustard on that ball as the pocket was collapsing. The ball shot out of his arm like a cannon and I am pretty sure his follow through was disrupted by a defender. Had to rewind that one several times...and he hits the WR in stride. That was a big time play.

He was amazing for a few minutes; lot of quarterbacks have moments like that. His work in Tulsa was defined by consistency, composure, and control of the offense.
hoks want to keep playing up last year's game because it makes it seem like it was a "flash in the pan" that won't ever happen again...but if Tulsa is representative of how Jantz will play this year, the Iowa game won't even be close.
