Can anyone decipher this? Is it the first, after the first, or the 13th and 14th.

Weather can potentially impact the exact date that your cart will arrive.
Metro Waste Authority communities will start receiving the carts for the new recycling program in April 2009. It will take approximately 6 to 8 weeks for all of the communities to receive their new cart at their curb. You can begin filling your cart as soon as you receive it, but you cannot put it on the curb for pick up until after July 1. At that time you will no longer be able to use your green Curb It! bin since this new program is fully automated and the arm from the collection truck will not be able to pick up the bin.
Important information about when you can first use your new recycling cart.
On the lid of your cart is a calendar sticker which will help you remember which days to put your recycling cart out to be collected.
Your lid color is: green
Day for first pick up is: July 13 or July 14 (Please place your cart out on your regular recycling pick up day. Your recycling pick up day has not changed.)

For you it seems to be the 13th or 14th. Some peoples dates start on the 1st.. at least that's how I take it.

That sure seems to me that they won't pick up the new bin until the 13th or 14th, whichever your normal day is. Since next week appears to be the first week for the "black lids" they won't pick up yours at all next week, new bin or old bin. The way I understood it, they were still supposed to have picked up the old bins today, but I see a lot of full old style bins sitting around my neighborhood that never got emptied today. I didn't even bother putting mine out since I wasn't sure what was going on.

I think your's would be the 13th or 14th.

I believe ours in WDM begins next week and we have the black lids

I think they're saying this is the last week they'll pick up the old bins, and then the next time they'll pick up any recycling will be on 7/13 & 14 in the new bins.

I'm not happy with this change. I had a good system with the old bins, I'm still not sure where to store the new bin, and I know I'll forget to drag the new bin to the curb since it's now picked up every other week.

Can't you just check the calendar on the top? For us (in Ankeny) we start using the new ones next week. Thursday is our pick up.

Or just wait and see when your neighbors start using theirs..

your pickup day is the 13th or 14th. The program with the new curb it bins starts on the 1st. If you have received your bin, there should be a schedule on your lid.

I'm not sure I like it either. The dumpster thing is so damn big. I guess I won't trip over it like I did the old ones...this thing is so huge, you can't miss it. I wish they would have come up with something in a size between the old bins and this new large one.

I'm sure we'll forget to put ours out too. Every other week will be hard to remember. And it doesn't help the crazy loon that picks our recycling up sometimes comes at 6 am and then other times, not until 2 pm. On a side note, I have learned, that if you forget to put out your recycling the night before...and then the pick up guy comes at the crack of dawn... if you run outside still in your PJs (which was a see thru wife-beater tank) --- he will stop and come back for your bin.
