John Amaechi

In the end Tim will be blacklisted (PNI) and all the talking heads will feel they "saved us" from the evil hate monger. Then hours later we'll see the Iranian president being cordially interviewed by our own media, and no one will bat an eye. "Southern Christians" and "Evangicals" will be used as synonyms for "red-necks" and "backwater morons" and no one will bat an eye.

While I do not personally agree with Tims comments, more outrageous things are said everyday on the airwaves and no one notices, not until someone dings a special interest.

Yeah but the answer to that question answers what you guys are talking about.

I think Jbhtexas might be trying to say that it is ok to hate someone for something they choose but not something that they have no control over.

But, I really don't want to enter this debate so I am leaving now lol

well played!

I guess if you want a standardized answer to this you are not gonna get one, it's all my personal feelings. To hate someone's personality because they are a jerk is okay to me (because I would want them to not be a jerk and be respectful) *do onto others as you would want done onto yourself* because I am a very respectful and kind person to those who do the same to me. To hate someone because they are black or because they are gay is not okay (because to ask or expect them to not be black or not be gay is ridiculous).

Sis...Boom...Bah...it's exploded...

For those of you old enough to know about Sis...Boom...Bah, click here

And my worldview of treating others as I want to be treated has worked very well for me up to this point and I've made some great life friends through it.

So you hate your boss because you want her to hate you back??? Or you want other people to hate you back???

I'm not trying to be condescending, but everytime you post, you contradict something you said before. That's why my head exploded a few posts back, but I'm better now. It's ok for you to hate, but it's not ok for Tim Hardaway to hate. And your standard for reasons that are OK to hate and reasons that aren't OK to hate are arbitrary things that you make up. I just find that very interesting.

Personality or race? What's the difference? They are both among the key aspects that define a person. Why is it OK to hate someone for one thing that defines their person and not the other? Don't you see the gross illogic in the position that you are are taking?

i understand what ur saying about the fact they are both hate, but they are not the same..."personality or race what's the difference?" IDK you tell me, look up them both in the dictionary, they are very different. My hate is 99% different than Tim Hardaways's hate...the only thing in common is that it is hate in the word of the definition...i don't hate a person, i hate the person's personality, i wish they would be nicer and more respectful to me as i am to them. He hates a type of people, a group (homosexuals) he hates an entire group of people, I hate someone's personality, theres a huge difference, you can't say they are the same...

If someone hates their boss's personality because they are mean is a legitimate reason to hate that about them in my book (because its something they can control, THEY DON'T HAVE TO BE MEAN). To hate a type of people because of their skin or sexual orientation isn't okay. (something they can't change.)

Look if you wanna take the side of anti-gay groups then be my guest. I don't know why you have such a big problem with my viewpoints on hating ppl's personalities because their mean compared to thinking its wrong just hating people for bigotrous reasons.

Another great article from Kevin Hench you should read:

Lo

What you are saying doesn't make any sense. If Tim hates homosexuals, he obviously isn't hating that person but rather their behavior. It's the same thing as you hate. I think homosexuality behavior is despicable, but I don't hate the individual person. For you to hate your boss because of their personality (that they likely can't change any more than a person's gayness) is eerily similar to Tim hating gay people for being gay. I don't know how you think you are the hate police and can decide which form of hating something that is tough to change is ok. I personally think that Tim didn't think out his statement before he spoke it, but I don't think that he meant he hates every person that's gay. Instead, he probably just hates the behavior and that comes across as hatred for the individual. Geez I just said hate a lot.

Hating anyone will do more wrong then good. I don't hate any race groups because, after all, we are all human beings with biggest difference being different skin color..... Homosexuality absolutely makes my skin crawl by I don't hate the person. A former pastor of mine made a statement in a church service many years ago that has made a pretty big impact on the way I treat people. He basically stated that everyone is God's creation and no matter what sin has entered their life, they are still his creation. Sin has many forms such as lust, infedelity, putting sports or anything above Him, not just homosexuality. Basically at the end of the sermon was the impact statement when he said it is our responsibilty to "Love the sinner, hate the sin".

But I respect everyone elses opinion on this matter and am pretty impressed in CF members that have debated such a "hot topic" while keeping things quite civil. Kudos to all of you...:yes4lo:
