Jon Miller has said several times how close the Hawks were to going undefeated in 2008. He brings up all these stats to back that up. As a hawk, he forgets to bring up the opposite side. Remember the ISU game? 1-4 field goals, an interception inside the 10 yard line and another turnover on downs inside the 5? That game could have gone either way.

How about the Penn St game? Didn't Penn St throw a pick late in the game? How about the game against Purdue getting a 22-17 win at home?

Yeah, Iowa had a decent season and could have had some more wins last season. Iowa also was really close to not making a bowl game too. Remembet that Mr. Miller and all hawk fans! :wink:

There are a million of different scenerios that could of played out last year. We could of gone 12-0 or we could of went 6-6 or 5-7. Yes, the ISU game was close, and change some of the missed field goals and the game has a totally different look to it. Take away the interception and the pass interference call in the Penn State game and we don't have a chance to come back and win that one. Also, look at Purdue, they had a chance to come back all the way up to the last play of the game.

I love my Hawks, don't get me wrong, but the door swings both ways. For each game that we lost where we could of won, there is a game we won and could of lost.
 
Is Jon still predicting that Jake Christensen will win the Heisman Trophy? :biglaugh: :biglaugh: :biglaugh:

This is true. However, if you take away the questionable/phantom roughing the kicker penalty, neither one of these two are in the equation. The D showed a lot of heart to overcome a shaky call and put it all on the line when the tank was running on E and put the offense in position to win the game.

That would be funny if Jon didn't come on here and admit he was way off on Christensen. But, don't let that get in the way of having a good time by yourself. Ignore away.

Nevertheless, that game still remains one of the most overrated victories in the annals of Iowa football. The hope and optimism surrounding the Hawks this year is solely based off of a win over a decidedly overrated Penn State team at home. Coming into that game no one was too excited about Iowa's future but bing bango, one late field goal and start ordering hotel rooms in Pasadena for this year! :notworthy:

The exact same things could be said for ISU's win over Iowa in 2005, but that doesn't stop any of you from crowing about it every chance you get. Would you say that win is the most over-rated in the annals of ISU football? I'm gonna guess not.

The team that Iowa beat hoisted the conference championship trophy a few weeks later. The team that ISU beat in 2005 did not.

It wasn't that just one game. It was also the beatdowns of Minnesota and S. Carolina.

Most importantly, it was the improved play of the quarterback. Whether his improvement continues into this season remains to be seen, but I think it's a legitimate cause for optimism.
 
Miller should concentrate on Hawkeyenation and maybe get a story posted that isn't 3 days behind everyone else. That site has to be the biggest rip-off of any team site in the country.

Please. The beatdowns of Minnesota and S. Carolina is the equivalent to Floyd Mayweather giving a beatdown to a Special Olympics boxer...
