I know Gordo his dad, great guy that sold me a term life insurance policy and hired me at the same time.
So the apple did in fact fall far from the tree?

I went to school with Jason, the oldest of the Bohannons and there couldn't be a nicer guy. I don't know the rest of his family well, but I know every interaction I've had with members of that family have been positive. I've never had interactions with Jordan.

Nobody from my Iowa side of things has an ounce of sympathy for him and all couldn't believe Fran did that press release

Fran doing the press release seems very on brand for Fran. Wild that anyone following that program was surprised by that move.

Like I said, I posted it for those interested in reading it and considering it in good faith. I would encourage you to drop your guard as a troll and consider actually reading it.

I did read it. It's a hot steaming pile of horse****. There is no trolling here. I'm just being honest. Your publication got called out (and rightly so) and you're here attempting to defend it.

With the gift of hindsight, I could write a scathing rebuttal to that article and even better illustrate the folly of the it's basic premise than when it was first written. But this is an Iowa State Athletics board. It is not the place to do so.

Lumping Paul Parizek in the same basket as Griffen and Gerlman doesn't help your case. It undermines it. Now go away.

I'm not glad he got knocked out. I don't want to see anyone injured. But I'm also not going to sit here and buy this "he was blindsided" nonsense. The video obviously shows otherwise.

I'm sure the majority of us has been involved in a drunken confrontation of some type, and in that setting there's always a point in time where you have to decide to either walk away or be ready to fight. Watch the first 10 seconds of that video and you can tell it's a tense scene that could turn into a fight at any moment. You could tell that the kid who was videoing it knew it had the potential to turn into a fight by his comments.

So while I'm not taking any pleasure in JBO getting punched, I'm also out on the idea that he didn't know this was a potential outcome when he's drunk, arguing with someone and sticking a phone in their face.

If you’re a **** talking little ***** in Iowa City you better always have your guard up. People get punched out every night.

The whole claim of a "serious head injury" is beyond disingenuous and is seeming more and more like just a big pathetic lie to drum up sympathy. Somebody getting stunned and a bloody nose is not the same as someone unfortunate enough to end up in a coma like has happened up here several times in the last decade. Been some one punch deaths also with peeps falling and hitting their heads. I'd meet them halfway on this whole thing if he was actually hospitalized or had a serious injury since he's only a little prick and not a hard felon or something, but this still seems no more than a generic bar fight.

A one punch death in this case was never on the table due to the well established fact of how thick said prick’s skull is.

Using a cell phone camera as a shield lol. What a *****.

Summary is yes a former Iowa State football player was involved and that is Nick Kron. His involvement is the question mark though. It hasn't been confirmed to me he threw the punch. He wasn't the one that kneed him on the ground and other footage shows the initial punch wasn't a "sucker punch".

Also Bohannon denied medical assistance on scene but called 911 later to get an ambulance because him and his friends were too drunk to drive to the hospital to get stitched up. He refused to blow as well but seemed very intoxicated. Also this is approximately the "millionth time" (actual quote I was told lol) that Bohannon has instigated a fight downtown and then pulled his phone out to film it like he was arguing with the store manager at Costco for making him wear a mask.

So there is another video besides what's on TMZ? Has this been posted anywhere?

That may be your honest opinion but it's certainly far from the truth. Not sure what you're referring to when you say you have the gift of hindsight but you've responded to me several times now, I'd imagine if you actually had a substantive critique you'd have said it by now, this thread is not exactly on topic. If you've got a correction, please shoot us a message, we do correct stories when there are mistakes. Never lumped any of those people together, I think it was pretty clear that I was referring to this board's irrational distaste for the other author, or at least the pleasure people seem to get from dredging up a trifling pseudo-scandal for which he wasn't even responsible. You guys are worse than those Hawkeyes fans harassing the Cedar Rapids Gazette reporter over her accurate coverage of Kirk Ferentz.

I registered this account 12 years ago, btw, and have never posted until yesterday, so I'm well aware of how often people here have shat on the Informer. I'm not upset about it at all, we've got plenty of haters, just had some down time and figured why not post. More of a bad procrastination habit. Am serious about my interest in explaining the reporting process, used to teach it, and half the reason I check these posts out is to amuse myself over how off-base some of the more obsessive haters are about how the stories were constructed. Media literacy needs to be taught in K-12, so many people do not understand how the news process works. This is a passion project launched in grad school — at Iowa State — that has never turned a profit because I've never really tried. Hundreds of hours of effort were invested in the investigative pieces so spare me your pretension.

If interviewing a teenager and scrolling Facebook took hundreds of hours maybe you have a time management issue.
