That may be your honest opinion but it's certainly far from the truth. Not sure what you're referring to when you say you have the gift of hindsight but you've responded to me several times now, I'd imagine if you actually had a substantive critique you'd have said it by now, this thread is not exactly on topic. If you've got a correction, please shoot us a message, we do correct stories when there are mistakes. Never lumped any of those people together, I think it was pretty clear that I was referring to this board's irrational distaste for the other author, or at least the pleasure people seem to get from dredging up a trifling pseudo-scandal for which he wasn't even responsible. You guys are worse than those Hawkeyes fans harassing the Cedar Rapids Gazette reporter over her accurate coverage of Kirk Ferentz.
I registered this account 12 years ago, btw, and have never posted until yesterday, so I'm well aware of how often people here have shat on the Informer. I'm not upset about it at all, we've got plenty of haters, just had some down time and figured why not post. More of a bad procrastination habit. Am serious about my interest in explaining the reporting process, used to teach it, and half the reason I check these posts out is to amuse myself over how off-base some of the more obsessive haters are about how the stories were constructed. Media literacy needs to be taught in K-12, so many people do not understand how the news process works. This is a passion project launched in grad school — at Iowa State — that has never turned a profit because I've never really tried. Hundreds of hours of effort were invested in the investigative pieces so spare me your pretension.
