Jake Knott tidbit

From a walk-on to being a shoo in to the NFL by the time he's a sophomore- without starting a single game.

this guy might put bo williams to shame

Had we not had 3 senior LB's including an all big 12 LB I'd bet good money he would have seen the field much more as a frosh.

Imo h e could be better from things I have heard. I didn't make the spring game however I heard he was impressive.

He could be better than Chad Greenway? I hate the so pro-Hawk, but he was 1st Team All Big 10, and First Team All American According to some sources. He was also the 17th overall pick and and 115 tackles last year. To say that Knott would be better would basically project him to be far and away the best linebacker we've ever had, and consider him a future Pro-Bowler...

He's already calling him an NFL player when he hasn't started for even a year?

Seems like he sure knows what he's talking about.

Someone saw potential in Jake Knott. That is a good thing. Would you prefer that the anonymous person said that JK looks like a total scrub and if he's starting we must suck?

You may be the most negative a-**** on this site. I wish I could ban you.

I'm not going to put him in the NFL yet, but I think that it's obvious that he's a decent player. I think that iowa missed on him big-time. And ISU WOULD have missed on him too if CPR hadn't been hired. UNI would have gotten a great player if it weren't for Rhoads.

Or he would have been another great walk-on for Iowa that was developed into an NFL stud. I thought I heard rumors that Iowa wanted him to walk on, but ISU offered the schollie and got him.

Iowa offered him for baseball, and really didn't recruit him at all for football other than the spring. I know a waukee coach pretty well.

He could end up being an NFL player, but to say you can tell he's an NFL player when he hasn't even played a full season or proven himself, is incredibly premature.

Its the same as the Jeff Woody love fest. Everyone hyping unproven players and saying how great they will be when they haven't amounted to much of anything. We go through this EVERY season, its annoying.

I hope they both prove me wrong, but some of the over the top predictions from some people on here remind me of Cubs fans.

hopefully he gets faster. I'd estimate right now he'd run a 4.83 or so at the NFL combine. If he could get to the 4.66-4.74 range it will definitely improve his NFL chances.

I think Klein has a pretty good shot too. He's got a little more seed. If these two continue to improve I think they could both go. This year they were kinda like and Abdul Hodge/ Chad Greenway like Iowa had a coupls of years ago!

Good to hear. We will need a lot more NFL players than have come through here in the past couple of decades if we want to get better as a program. Sending 1 player every year or so, will not get you much better than .500 like we've been recently.

Knott is faster than Klein. Klein is more aggressive though (see: Burkhead, endzone). I remember one of our coaches (Yancy?) saying that Knott puts up conerback agility numbers and lifts like a lineman.

I doubt your precision and accuracy is that good.

I hope we can get some better DT that can demand some double teams and free up Knott and Klein to roam as they please. That would really make them shine..
