Jacob Park to transfer

Park isn't making much sense here IMO. Cyclone fans turning their back on him? Uh, just the opposite is true.

And then the part about Kempt makes no sense either. Is Jacob Park really that scared about competing with Kempt for the starting job? Since when? I'm sorry Jacob, but if you transfer to another P5 school, you'll likely have a lot more competition than Kempt and Noland to contend with.

If he got no contact from anyone with the team then he was NOT a good teammate - and a piss poor captain that should not have had that honor in the first place. We need to go back to captains being selected by their teammates IMO.

Never seemed like his teammates cared all that much for him. And they sure got behind Kempt big time when he came in. It was pretty evident IMO.

Not sure why so many posters are upset that Birch took the story and ran with it. It's his freakin job! If his boss at the DMR knew he had that info first and didn't break the story, Tommy would have been in deep ****. Of course the article has been edited numerous times! This isn't out of the ordinary when a situations is as fluid as this one has been.

So Tommy isn't suppose to ask Park about the obvious inconsistencies in his story, or at least point them out in the story? Tommy probably even ran a story about Park's messages over Thanksgiving thanking among others Cyclone fans for their support. Next time Tommy should do his freakin job! Also terrible of CW to call Tommy's tweet good reporting. If reporting is being a stooge for whoever has talking points then good job Tommy.

I don't care to do it but I bet "literally no one" is a false statement.

If Campbell really hadn't talked to him, that's a ******** way of handling this and I hope he learns something. If that's not true, there's one rule for these things: Don't turn a one day story into a two day story. No comments, just move on. Personally, I didn't feel as though the fanbase was really behind him after the OU game but I also didn't feel as if they were rooting against him. Then you have all the comments when he made the SM appearance a couple weeks ago.

It's time to just move on now. Go find a grad transfer for some depth and move forward with Zeb, Moore and Mitchell.
It’s hard for a fanbase to be behind a guy when we don’t know what his future is on the field. I would like to think the vast majority of our fanbase was behind him, but for his health and recovery. Football is secondary and he needed to get himself right. His comments are disappointing, however, we don’t know the every side of the story. Wishing him the best and hope he gets himself to a good place.

I remember a QB losing his job last season. He faced the situation and made the best of it...let’s see how the flight technique works out. Iowa State fans are still almost too nice, even after he takes his potshot I’ve seen a lot of support.

Park was “on the record” and Tommy reported it. I’m not sure why this is so hard to understand.

Until this point, he hasn't really done or said anything to justify those opinions you had. His hair was different and he talked different. Otherwise, in front of the media, he didn't seem like those things.
Have you never listened to an interview with him? Go listen to him and then listen to Montgomery. One is humbled and determined, the other comes across as a smart ass that is too good for some of the questions.

I still to this day wish nothing but the best for Jacob Park, on the football field, but more importantly in his personal life.

I just don't feel like he is showing that he's matured much in his life by some of these comments he's making, and that has me concerned for him personally. Everyone does immature things in college, but hopefully you learn from them and grow. I just hope it doesn't take too long for this to happen to Jacob. You can ruin your life to the point where it's hard to come back from if you aren't careful.

At least he made the edits. Most reporters wouldn't.

Everything he did is standard procedure in 2017. Get the scoop, publish the story online (in this case, with a line that Campbell couldn't be reached for comment), then continue to update as quotes come in. It wasn't an investigative piece; he was reporting the news that Park was transferring, and he included quotes from Park. If he had omitted the contentious ones, he wouldn't have been doing his job.

I know Cyclone fans have a bit of (not necessarily unwarranted) animosity towards the media, but Birch did nothing remotely wrong here.
