Jacob Park to transfer

This whole story is strange. Not sure how the suspension could have been only 1 game to begin with. The NCAA manual states that the punishment for a first offense positive test of a substance that falls into the "street drug" classification is automatically 6 games (or 6 weeks, can't remember which).

It's a year and that's if they administer the test. If the school does it, it's up to them.

Lets all put blame on the poop emoji helmets.

Last logo Park wore on the field.

My next question is why go to the press now? He said he has one more class this spring at ISU then will graduate and transfer. He has had a lot of time since the Texas game to call out the ISU team and fans but chose to now (only a few weeks removed from praising ISU fans and the team on Twitter). Something happened, specifically in the last few days, that made him have such thoughts about the team and fans. I hope it comes out what happened that he decided to drag ISU down on his way out the door.

It said something in the article about Kempt trying to get a 6th year and Park not liking that. The only thing I can think of is that Park was intending to stay at ISU but didn't like the idea of having to win back his job from Kempt. So once that idea was cemented in his head, he figured he had to transfer.

The problem is, there's no guarantee Kempt gets that 6th year. I don't even think it's probable, much less likely.

I think part of the problem was that ISU fans didn't beg for him to come back and save us. We were happy with Kempt and Noland and the calm, steady presence they provided. Maybe this didn't jive too well with Parks ego.

I honestly don't understand Parks reasoning. The team and fans opening stated that they would welcome him back on multiple occasions. He remained part of the team the entire season and the coaches wanted to talk to him, so they didn't shut him out.

The truth of the matter is 90% of Cyclone fans wish Jacob well & hope he gets his life together and finds success. To spin it any other way is just misleading.

Before this article I would guess that percentage was even higher than 90%. Most of us hoped he could come back and contribute next year, even if we weren't optimistic it would actually happen.

He's just doing the following right now:

Parting shots? WTF? I've seen one parting shot and that was from Jacob Park at fans.

Some pretty big talk from a hok fan. No one threw his fanbase under the bus on their way out of town.

During this entire saga, I don't remember seeing one nasty tweet reply that would have gotten back to Park. Up until this story came out. And even then we are still being way nicer than we could be.

Lets see Park try to get this kind of compassion and understanding out of his next school if he pulls any similar stunts. Most would show him the door.

I understand (at least somewhat) what he is saying about ISU fans letting him down. I've seen a number of 'he overthrows too often' and 'Kyle and Zeb were better' comments on this forum. TO me it was just an uninformed as the 'Glad Paul Rhoads is gone' comments. I was glad to have Jacob Park here. I was glad to see that his team mates apparently 'had his back' all through October and probably November too. I think Jacob is a lot better than Zeb (at least at the beginning of this past season). I believe that Kyle was much more judicious with passing the ball (mostly because of his lesser 'armstrength'). I am sorry that Jacob Park will not be re-joining the team, but it sounds as if he needs to be elsewhere (even if it is not division 1). Good luck to you Jacob Park, I hope to hear that you are leading a successful life in the future.

It did not help matters that the last time we saw Park in action was against Texas where our defense actually kept us in the game, but he had a complete meltdown with the picks he threw. Most people on this board knew that Park is a very talented QB with Pro potential. And I saw VERY few people saying they didn't care if he returned or not.

Being happy with the way Kempt and Noland played is not the same as bashing Park. We had no idea what was going on with him, so most of the time, unless it was a thread specifically about Park, we didn't discuss him.

I honestly think the biggest issue he had with the fans is that we were happy with the way Kempt and Noland played and we weren't begging him to come back and save us.

Fales has always seemed to have a holier than thou attitude. His entire "what's bugging Andy" segment is him preaching about what's wrong with how other people do things. Kind of annoying.

Absolutely. He seems to get on his high horse a lot. "Iowa fans would never do that" is something he seems to say often, until they "do that" and then he doesn't mention it again.

Fales has a huge disconnect with reality when it comes to the ISU fan base. Always has. Murphy doesn’t but gets pulled in because he’s a nice guy who will defend a coworker.

This board has literally thousands of supportive Park posts over many months and not even a dozen “shots” against him. Fales just doing what he does making up fiction about ISU fans.
