Well he is flexing, closed fists in the second picture.....While likely true, you can’t ignore the physical difference like you did. It’s staggering, honestly, and the question you quoted is valid. What the the hell were they (not) doing at Temple?

Not saying he has not made a great improvement. I can remember in my younger more athletic days that I tried to pump myself for pictures also.Yes that's true and thats how lots of people do transformation photos because it makes the transformation look that much better. Either way that doesn't negate the fact that he put on probably 20 pounds of muscle. The definition of every part of his upper body is substantial compared to the left and that has nothing to do with him not flexing and being relaxed in the first photo.
Most of us sit down when we flex....Well he is flexing, closed fists in the second picture.....
I mean yeah lol he literally just got done lifting. Not saying he has not made a great improvement. I can remember in my younger more athletic days that I tried to pump myself for pictures also.
Wisconsin news interview with Jackson. Great interview and story how we landed him.
Or dating.In-dra-cite-iss sounds like a disease you would pick up after swimming in Missouri farm pond.
My wife said he’s a cutie so that’s awesome lolVery fun little video. Thanks for sharing.
Also I'm already laughing about how mad people are gonna be when he goes off against them. My girlfriend saw a pic and said he looks like he's 12 lmao.
Because I'm really high on Pav, I wanted to look into this a bit. On the surface, freshman AJ Green is a really good comp.
Just raw numbers, Pav went 15/4/3, Green went 15/2/3. Pav was more efficient as a shooter, but especially inside the arc where he made 54% vs. 46% for Green. Also was about 4 points better from three 39% vs 35%. Green was definitely more of a volume shooter from 3, though, taking quite a few more than Pav - 8 threes per 40 for AJ vs. 4.3 for Pav.
That's one of the things that stands out in the numbers, Pav did a lot more work inside the arc than you'd expect just looking at him in the lineup or something. His free throw rate would have led ISU this year (not taking into account Eli or Conrad). He made more than anyone on ISU took this year!
Back to the Green comp, Pav and Green had similar assist and turnover rates, similar rebounding rates. Overall though, most any attempt at an overall offensive metric really likes Pav. Higher BPM and OBPM, higher ORTG, (much) higher PER. Granted, MVC > SoCon, so who can really say. My guess is that Pav likely does more from outside the arc this year than he did in the SoCon, but who knows. He played well against TA&M and LSU, didn't seem like they immediately took that part of his game away.
Does this mean anything? IDK, but it does make me feel even better about my thinking that Pav has a really high ceiling as a college player, and I'm stoked that's at ISU.
I'm not necessarily holding my breath on the defensive stopper part but that's fine. The style of D ISU has played with TJ is far more about activity, BBall IQ, cohesion, and communication than it is about raw individual ability to lock someone down.Great post! I’m also seeing a lot of positives in Pav too. If he puts some more muscle on, and is a defensive stopper—look out!
Pav’s vidz are really exciting. Not only can pop the 3, but is not shy about taking the ball to the rim, drawing contact/fouls and finding creative ways to score. Don’t know about his ability to defend and he might need to gain a bit of muscle, but really like what I’ve seen in his offensive game.Because I'm really high on Pav, I wanted to look into this a bit. Slightly off topic, but I am seriously intimidated by TJ’s guns.Looks like he's been on TJ's bulk program since he got to Ames.
Folks look at his forearms. They're twice the size of the first. That's not cause he's flexing.Well he is flexing, closed fists in the second picture.....
I really like this guy. Everyone should watch the video clip of him scoring 50 points against the #1 ranked team in Wisconsin. He is not a pure shooter who can also drive to the basket. He is a player who drives to the basket but also is a pure shooter. He is not just a catch and shoot player like JorBo and Fredricks.Pav’s vidz are really exciting. The Big 12 is indeed a grind, but at least next year we will go 9 or 10 deep and he won't have to be out there 35 plus minutes like our guards last season had to do (especially after Grill was hurt). We have him, Gilbert and Hamilton to rotate at two spots. Likely Watson too. Plus, Gilbert can play some point, which is especially important if Williamson can't go because of the injury.Looks like he showed out against tougher competition. Awesome that he's got 3 years of eligibility.
I bet he'll need time to adjust to the B12 grind, but will be a good guy for a scoring punch off the bench next year and evolve into a starter as a junior and senior.
Yep. Only 34% of his FG attempts were threes. This past season, Grill was at about 80%. Kalscheur 54%.I really like this guy. Williams wasn't running up and down the floor every day playing basketball for two hours the past few months. He wouldn't have done that if he was playing basketball. Lot easier to add muscle if you are not doing that. Gilbert and Pav will make gains, but not like Williams. So need to put Gilbert and Pav on the Jeremiah Williams training program.
