Jack Trice throwback uniforms again?

Every team has Alt jerseys. Players like that type of stuff more than you think. Our players are always excited when it's changed up.

Never said they didn't. I'm saying for those that want an alternate jersey every game, it's expensive to have 12 versions of uni's like Oregon. I'm also saying I have never seen an ISU recruit come here based on wearing alternate jerseys since 2008 where we have worn them in one form or another. Maybe Big Dawg Williams. How did that turn out? If you can find a quote by an ISU recruit that says he came here based on our alternate jerseys, then I'll buy you a donut. Players make the team, not the uniform. Ask KS, MD... they have alts and they still suck.

It's one thing to be first to the party with a new marketing idea....it's quite another to be 85th. We have a great Alternate that I think we should Market and wear more for big games..the Trice throwback. It's unique to ISU. So is the Story behind it.

So... does anybody in the know have any insight as to whether we will see Jack Trice throwback uniforms sometime during this season?

I'm having blue flashbacks. Never again.

Did we ever have the blue as more than just a trim color? For some reason I thought I had a jersey when I was a kid that was dark blue with red numbers and a yellow outline...but I cant find that anywhere. Am I just imagining that jersey??

a lot of the "off brand" jerseys made them blue, not sure why. We have never actually worn blue jerseys.

However, I just got to thinking, blue pants, blue jersey with the bird in blender helmet on red would be pretty cool throw back (to something we never had).

Actually, we HAVE worn blue jerseys on the field. In 1931, George Veenker came to Iowa State as the new head coach and promptly introduced blue jerseys with gold numbers. (He had been the assistant football coach and head basketball coach at Michigan.) This look was maintained through the 1930s.

The only Iowa State player in the College Football Hall of Fame is Ed Bock and throughout his entire career, he wore the blue jerseys.

The best way to sell more **** is to make more ****. You buy that ****, they'll make that ****. **** sells. Not sure why. I don't understand the boner everyone has for uniforms. I'm not saying there aren't a lot of dudes with boners for unis, I just don't get it.

Ok so I did have that jersey...thanks for clarifying

No boner here, just convinced we need to use every edge we can in recruiting, or at least keep up in the uni race. A lot of recruits like cool unis and current players like a change once in awhile, I don't think there's any doubt about that. We're not an Alabama and we can keep up or get left behind.

Agree- players want to wear cool jerseys and our McCyclone home jerseys are seriously outdated. Next year the new coach will hopefully change that.

WHY NOT HAVE BOTH?? Keep the I-State logo. Put it on the fifty yardline and @ midcourt. Put the funnel on the helmet. And switch it up from time to time. See my sig:

Why not put both on...prepare to have your mind blown...the same helmet??? Funnel on one side, word logo on the other. There's no rule saying the same thing must be on each side of the helmet.

Agree w/ you two here. Here's my quote from March, in the 'uniform' thread:
"AND, what would be wrong w/ having the 'I-State' logo on one side of the helmet, and the 'swirl' logo on the other side? Any Teams do this? How would that look? One side says 'I-State', the other side 'swirl' (Cyclones!!!). Makes sense to me. Again more people are happy, you got both right there!"

Didn't know if anyone else felt that way, as it was the last post in that thread; a real Thread closer.

I posted this in a previous thread but since people still want to argue that uniforms don't matter, here ya go.

http://www.wacotrib.com/sports/baylo...e6ecc015f.html

“Everywhere I go across the state and nation, the No. 1 theme with recruits and fans is Baylor has the best unis,†Briles said.

While recruits choose football programs where they can best develop their athletic and academic potential, it doesn’t hurt to look good. A flashy uniform (or two or three or four) can help coaches sell the program.

“When you’re young, the first thing you’re going to look at is uniforms,†said Baylor sophomore receiver KD Cannon. “Some people feel you look good, you play good. I like (Baylor’s uniforms) because you don’t want to come out with the same old plain uniforms. We have a variety to choose from each and every game.â€

So who decides which uni is going to be worn for a given game? Are the players who wanted another uni choice so upset they don't play well? Too many options might not be a good thing...:-)
