J. Tinsley trade rumors

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(zimman18 @ 06-29-06 9:30 am) [post=5978]Quoted post[/post]</div><div class='quotemain'> Does anyone know much about Tinsley being traded from the Pacers? Last night while watching the draft, I heard the announcers bring this up a few times. [/b][/quote]

I have heard Tinsley to the Timberwolves for Ricky Davis.

There have been a lot of rumors regarding several Pacers players possibly being moved but nothing seems to be consistent in the rumors from day to day. I don't have anything right now to say if or when Tinsley would be traded...

A part of me hopes he gets traded to a team that unleashes his true talent and doesn't restrict his street baller mentality. He might even be able to stay healthy one of these years.

Dallas could use a nice point gaurd.

The fact of the matter is that unless Jamaal stops being lazy on defense he's not going to stick in the NBA. You can be lazy in the NBA but you had better be able to score - and he can't.

No way this will happen. Ricky Davis is a much better player, it wouldn't be an even-up trade. Plus, the T-Wolves drafted for the PG position when they got Foye. This give the T-Wolves three PGs ( Foye, Hudson, Jaric ), not including Marcus Banks, an unsigned free agent.

Any news if Pistons will sign and trade Kelvin Cato since his $30M contract expires after the 4 years?

The pacers trading Jamaal would be crazy. Peja Stojakovic just opted out of his final years of contract making hima free agent. If anyone should be traded it should be Jermaine O'Neal. Kind of dead weight.

No offense, but you have no idea what you're talking about. He has a contract for the next 5 years. He may not always play up to his ability, but very few play good defense in the NBA. He is a fantastic defender when he concentrates on it, but his job first and foremost as the PG is to run the offense.

I didn't realize his agent was a member. It is a fact that he is in Carlisle's dog house because he is lazy on defense. You characterize it as not concentrating, fine. My other point was that it might be alright if Iverson is lazy on defense (AS AN EXAMPLE ONLY) because he scores 35 a game but Tinsley is not going to put up those numbers. It's a bigger issue with the NBA in general. I don't condone it. And the fact that he has a big contract doesn't mean alot other than he'll get lots of money whether he performs or not. I'd personally like to see him earn it. You'd clearly like to stick up for him simply because he went to Iowa State. Whatever.

I have watched Rick Carlisle coaching for five long years, and his favorite tactic is to set his players for several games and make them suffer on the bench. When they come off the bad boy list, they play very hard. Unfortunately, for the Pacers, they had the "crowd incident" in Detroit, many injuries, "must trade Ron" fiasco, and then more Carlisle benchriders. This Rick approach to coaching just did not work in Indiana last year. With the rise of Cleveland and Memphis and Charlotte, Rick's days may be numbered. Maybe the Knicks need Rick. They could run in a lot of combo guards from his second team. Personally, Rick would not be my favorite coach to play for. Looks like Anthony Johnson, Austin Croshere, Jeff Foster, David Harrison, Fred Jones, Scot Pollard, and others all have same problem as Jamaal.

Actually Tinsley scored very well when all of the players were suspended after the brawl. A lot of people credited him with keeping the team afloat while all of those guys were gone and his scoring increased a great deal during that time.

Tinsleys biggest problem is he keeps getting hurt and his job isn't to score it's to get the ball to Oneal and whoever is there shooting guard next year he scores when he needs to.

Everyone - I'm not ragging on Jamaal. All I'm saying is that unless he gives 110% on the defensive side of the ball then he will be pigeon-holed because he does not have a great NBA offensive game. The guy is a terrific point guard. There are alot of terrific point guards. Ask Stinson. Whoever mentioned it is right, Carlisle would be hard to play for but isn't that because he demands effort and team play? Jamaal is a great story and my memories of him in a Cyclone uniform might not ever be topped. However, he disappears sometime in games. His injuries have also opened the door for a few other players to make their case at getting minutes and they stepped up. Fight back Jamaal - look like you want to be there.

kberydial-these people will eat you apart for saying anything negative about a beloved cylcone player. So the best way is to make it look positive. Instead of saying hes lazy maybe say he needs to condition harder or put more effort into the game?

We see your point, its just not a very good one. Sure he'd be better if he gave 110% on defense, but who wouldn't be. The NBA isn't about defense. He also isn't Allen Iverson, but then again not many PGs put up a lot of points like Iverson does because its not their primary responsibility. I don't see what is wrong with being "pigeon-holed" as a starting NBA point guard and getting paid for it. "Ask Stinson" what does that mean? Nobody ever said Stinson was a great point guard, they aren't even in the same league (literally and figuratively). There are lots of terrfic point guards, and Tinsley is one of them as you said. You seem to want him to be an all-star like Iverson, which if he did everything like you said, he would be. But who cares if he's an all-star or just leading an NBA team..

Maybe when they were talking Ricky for Jamaal, they were talking Ricky vs Jamaal plus cash and/or draft choices. However, I do not see Ricky Davis as a good fit for the "you must do it this way" Indiana Pacers coached by the demanding Rick Carlisle. Really, is Ricky going to follow orders or just play his game? Franky, I hope Jamall is traded to the Hornets or Warriors or some team that will open up their style of basketball. Right now it is toss the ball into Jemaine ONeal and let him shoot. And maybe Ricky has a big, fat contract that his team wants to get rid of. Speaking of ex Hawks like Reggae, how is Nutman from Seattle doing? Is he safe next year in Seattle?

whoever talking about 110% effort doesnt watch the NBA, no 1 gives 60% half the time(Except for maybe D.Wade),tinsley needs to be traded because indiana is going nowhere fast as long as rick carlisle is the coach.

It is twice as easy to find a "Ricky Davis" than a "Jamaal Tinsley". Tinsley is worth much more in the NBA

circles.
