Izzy leaves program

To be honest watching Crooks I kept thinking why isn't Izzy playing.
How? Crooks already has shown she can score in short spurts and also passes well for her size. I had hoped Izzi would carve out more time by now and seeing Crooks in HS I had my doubts she'd play much this year but she's already looking like she's going to make an impact off the bench this year and if she puts in the work to tone up a bit it will only help her development going forward.

Nina Smith

She also stayed in school at ISU.

I recall she actually ended up playing somewhere after ISU but still can’t find the info about it.

When trying to find her story on google, it seems that her daughter is a sophomore at Omaha.

Junior Gabby Moore scored 11 for the Wahawks and sophomore Brooklynn Smith, the daughter of IGHSAU Hall of Famer Nina Smith, scored 10 points

Nina Smith was a big time recruit when she went to Wisconsin. If I recall she had back issues that she was not able to get past to be healthy enough to play again if I recall. Here's the article from the ISU Daily at the time that had some other bits about why she walked away from the game.

Another sad day as a young scholar athlete leaves our program before exhausting her eligibility, which we’ve seen too frequently over the past several years. There’s no good reason to leave now, one game into the season, and it’s certainly not beneficial to the team. I’m sorry Izzi - thanks for your contributions and I wish you well moving forward.
What a negative take. You act like you know something about her mental and physical health??? Do you kwhat it's like to grind for 4 years of D1 athletics? I commend her for making this decision. Good for her.

There are plenty of good reasons to leave now. It's her decision. I'm sure it wasn't taken lightly.

Saying "no good reason" is from a fan's perspective. Not hers

The level of commitment needed to play D1 athletics is significant. So not hard to see why if someone isn't playing, they might question, why put in the time.

Then I feel like the beating on one's body is entirely different for a 6'4" women than someone who's 6'.

And as a senior, it's pretty natural to start thinking about life after college.

Wish Izzi the best!! Cyclone Forever.

That is correct - my perspective, not Izzi's. I grow too attached to these young players and want them all to have the fairy tale experience at ISU, which is an unreasonable expectation. I have enjoyed access to inside information for a number of years, which I'm careful not to betray, and I absolutely respect Izzi's decision to step away. I'm simply saddened by her departure.

Many of us get VERY attached to these ladies and it's an easy thing to do with the quality of players the staff bring in. We all wish her the best.
