I just learned something about myself tonight. I've apparently crossed the line and become a full-blood Cyclone fan. How I realized this, you ask? I had the gall to suggest that Iowa State had the better football season and that, while Iowa is better than a Kempt-led ISU, the Cyclones would be favored if the teams played again today with Purdy leading the huddle. I was subsequently labeled an ISU homer by an Iowa fan who assured me that he's "not retarted," and who could present no factual evidence beyond the head-to-head result to refute my claim (he claimed Iowa's schedule was tougher, to which I responded with multiple SOS rankings putting ISU ahead of Iowa). Me, the Iowa alum named for a former Hawkeye player who also worked for the athletic department for the last 2+ years, was secretly a died-in-the-wool Cyclone. Or maybe it happened gradually and I just didn't notice (as such things tend to happen). Regardless, I hope you'll welcome me with open arms. ;)

@tm3308, Naw your still a hawk fan just a reasonable one;). It's like me conceding that Iowa has a better BB team than I thought they would. (Still like our chances better in March, but Fran does have a better team than I thought it would be.)

Merry Christmas and come visit more often in 2019!

I will agree with the original poster that ISU did have a better season that Iowa and that the Purdy led Cyclones are better than the Kempt led Cyclones. Still have to give Iowa credit for completely shutting down ISU after the first drive of the game. ISU had no answer for the Iowa DL, and I suspect even with Purdy the ISU OL would get blown up routinely. They do have a very good defensive front. (A health DM certainly wouldn't have hurt ISU's cause.)

ISU is trending upward, and in the end that is the most important thing.

The fact that the OP posted this on the CycloneFanatic site at 1:30am on Christmas Eve is quite interesting (and maybe a little disturbing). Is it also posted on HawkeyeNation? Now that would be very interesting!

Because your fan base isn’t made up of educated alums like yourself but mostly tavern sitting mouth breathers. We’ve known what you just discovered for years.

Well first off, it's thoroughly tongue in cheek. I've always rooted for ISU when they aren't playing Iowa, but I'm still an Iowa fan first. As for the timing, I just started a new job in Wisconsin and couldn't go home for Christmas, so I've got little else to do. And I haven't been on the HN forums for years. The conversation there lost its appeal a long time ago.

I think things become official once you have a clone cone in full ISU gear.

Admitting this doesn't make you a clone fan, it makes you rational (extremely rare in the wild, but still potentially an iowa fan). Enjoying that statement makes you a clone fan. So, do you enjoy the fact that ISU would be favored against iowa if they played today on a neutral field today?

The conversion won't be complete IMO until you learn to hate Ioway and everything they stand for.
