Its recruiting

What the **** is so funny about losing to a FCS team? Michigan went out today and played 10 true freshman and handed a MAC team their ***. We lost to a team that has 30 less scholarships than we do. This is real life, not sunshine and rainbows. What happened tonight was complete ********. The fanbase was challenged and they have answered the bell. The team/program did not. This isn't even about talent. There isn't a position on the field that UNI has more talent than ISU. They have a better OC and offensive coaching than ISU. They also had a better defensive gameplan. This is after watching the game once and I do reserve my right to change that opinion once I watch again but I will bet good money that when I watch again I see an offense throwing darts at a playbook instead of an offense using any sort of constraint. Losing to a FCS is unacceptable. The worst part is that the staff knows that yet there is a portion of the fanbase that will just accept it and say "Well, they are a good FCS team."

I usually agree with you Tre, but throughout my life I've learned that if somebody coaches college football for a living, the will to win probably isn't an issue.

I didn't say it wasn't. What I meant was that there is a portion of the fanbase who thinks CPR can do no wrong. Don't get me wrong, I think CPR is the right guy but he has been incredibly nonchalant about the offensive side of the ball the last two years.

I agree with just about everything you said, with the exception being the bolded assertion above. David Johnson was BY FAR the best RB on the field tonight. Gotta give credit where its due.

My guess is we'll see some changes this year if things don't improve. I was all for giving Mess a second year, but tonight was not impressive. It's too early to judge coach K's o-line, IMO. Biggest thing that got me tonight was the inability to finish drives (something Herman was surprisingly good at), and the inept play calling. We should be throwing the ball down field more, I also would have liked to see more packaged plays instead of zone reads. Myself, someone who never played organized football, also shouldn't be able to say what the play is before it happens purely based on the formation.

Even if I concede that (which I wouldn't) that's one guy in a one position. I think Shontrelle is more talented. The offensive line was not good, again. These receivers are good and I will go to my grave saying that. They are the most talented group on the field but when everything else isn't working, it's hard for them to succeed. David Johnson was used better than our backs. He isn't better from a sheer talent prospective.

Not sure why or how we can see it so differently, but I bet we see D. Johnson on Sundays. Can't say that I see any of our RBs missing church for a football game. I do however think that we could get better production from our RBs if the o-line would open up some decent sized holes for them to squeeze thru.

The last few years we have been getting two stars with no other offers then we expect them to be big 12 caliber players. This year is the first year I have felt like we have a good class. The last three classes are showing the talent level we have got. Imo

The bigger problem is that we have 2 star players that expect a team like UNI to just roll over for them, because we're in the Big 12. Unfortunately it doesn't work that way.

I'd be happy with top notch FCS players after what I saw tonight. Is UNI winning the recruiting battle against us, too?

Losing recruiting battle to UNI?....That's what Gene Smith asked Jim Walden just before he Fired him, GS wanted to know why Walden didn't recruit certain players on the UNI roster and since Jimmy Dean Walden couldn't come up with a plausible answer it was ......Firing Time Again......

Give me a break. His "defense" gave up 28 points to the University of Northern Iowa.

Every single coach on every single team loses players every single year.

I am not sure if you actually watch football, but you have to score 30 points if you want to win a game. You can't win scoring 20 or 21 points consistently. The defense was bad last night, but it is not accurate to say defense has been a big problem since PR came here. The offense on the other hand is completely unacceptable and nothing is being done to fix it from what I can see. Listen, if the offense puts it in the end zone twice in the second half we win the game. Just not accceptable to score 6 points against UNI in the second half.

At what position did we have a better player than UNI? Name one. I can't think of one, maybe in the secondary.

Our safties are very good football players. The rest of the defense is absolute garbage.

Youth is not an excuse for being pathetic. The recruiting misses FAR outweigh the hits and that's a problem. When we get these kids on campus they need developed and I don't honestly see much development of our players at the skill positions. Yancy might be great at what he does but we got absolutely manhandled last night in the trenches and that's a reflection on his program.

Its absolute garbage that we lost that game. People need to take off their cardinal and gold sunglasses and realize our recruiting sucks. Its not fun that every year we try to figure out what games we have a chance to win so we can get bowl eligible. Hoping for 6 wins every year is not fun.

I've been skeptical of a lot of the recruits we've brought in and have been called a troll for it. I wish i was a troll and we were talented.

I can't believe people actually think last night's loss was about talent level. That had zero to do with it.

UNI still has a LOT less talent than we do. And they dominated the game. So it's not all about talent.

We were completely outcoached on every level last night, and the UNI kids just wanted it more. Our guys seem like spoiled kids who just think everything is going to be given to them just because they show up. UNI worked for that win and got it, and deserved it.
