Its recruiting

D vario and lazard. And campos and Curtis playing. Also, more experience. A lot of young guys on Isu team right now

I am of the belief after watching this train wreck of an offense for the last 2 years, that it does not matter who we put out there, we will not score enough points with Mess as the OC. And I am not the type of guy that says fire the coach, but this guy is in way over his head. It's not one game, it's a long sting of things.

Fool me once it is your fault, fool me twice it's my fault.

I wasn't aware that UNI signed a bunch of big 12 caliber players..... A bunch of Iowa boys that neither in-state D1 program wanted just physically **** pounded us.

It's not recruiting. It's player development, coaching, and competent play calling.

But, it IS. This isn't basketball where lesser talent can out-execute a far more talented team and squeak out a win. If there was the type of talent gap that there should be between an FCS and an FBS team, then this doesn't happen.

Yes coaching and play calling matter, but it shouldn't have to matter this much against the likes of UNI.

LOL at all of you who are blaming recruiting. Stupid.

Recruit players no other BCS schools want and those are the kind of results that should be expected.

CPR is horribly overrated by our fan base. 3 straight losing seasons and now a loss to UNI in a season that will make it 4. Great guy. Average coach at best.

YOU SIR ARE A GENIUS . . . because have hit the proverbial nail squarely on the head!

And quite frankly, I am not sure that CPR is going to get this problem fixed. Here we are again - different QB, different OL coach - same problem. Time for one of the other former OCs on the team to take over.

Its playcalling. We ran the same plays two years ago against UNI and they remembered.

Gene Chizik won a national title.

We are not recruiting to our strengths. The system we run doesn't make sense for Iowa State. Our coaching is not good.

Wally gets way too much credit. The defense is terrible and never has been exceptional. This whole "more with less" slogan is ridiculous. He should recruit good players, so he doesn't have to do "more with less." The offense is horrible and has been horrible during the entire Rhoads era. Paul Rhoads gets paid 2 million dollars a year with state of the art weight facilities with a crowd of 56,000+ and can't compete with FCS speed/strength/coaching. The only thing PR is good at is PR.

The only real issues their are is LB and DLine. Dline players are always hard to find. Not having LB depth is what I don't understand. Over the past 10 years ISU has had good LBs, yet is seem to always be a struggle to get depth there.

Wally made huge adjustments tonight. He had 7 players that have never started before or played together in a game on the field to start the game tonight. Plus he lost the 3 best players off last years team. You will have issues when that happens. UNI scored on what their first 3 poss and only once after. Its not his fault the team only can score 20 pts a game.

Give me a break. His "defense" gave up 28 points to the University of Northern Iowa.

Every single coach on every single team loses players every single year.

Yes they do and every single year it takes them a bit to get everything settled. Look around what happened in college football this weekend.

Lets not act like UNI didn't lose players like we did. They also were inexperienced. I am tired of seeing that excuse used for our loss.

Our offense did not score in the last 20 minutes. We had a little over 100 yards offense in the second half....our kicker became our biggest weapon again.

I've been a fan for 35 years or more. By now, I know dog **** when I see it.

There is no excuse. LOL at the "dump the UNI series" thread. If we can't beat UNI (at home), we might as well drop football. It's a disgrace. Admit it. You'll find it to be very liberating.

If you re-read my post you'll see I'm not making excuses at all. Like I said, this loss was BAD!!! But the reasons for the loss were quite apparent in my eyes, and I was just affirming the previous poster's insights on the loss as we saw eye to eye on the matter. I also think its ridiculously and absurdly funny how drastically attitudes change in a days time in regards to a coach and or team and so I commented on that as well. Drop football? Whatever, man! By the way, it sounds like you and I have very different ideas on what we find to be liberating.

Don't get me wrong, I believe the offense is horrible.

I just don't understand why it's so blasphemous to bash the defense. They haven't really played a decent game since Baylor, and even under Knott and Klein, they still weren't spectacular.

CPR is still the best possible coach for ISU, IMO. This is either the beginning of a 12 loss season, or a wake-up call. If he loses out, its all on him. If we come back and win 5 or 6, I would say that he has done an amazing job this season. 6 wins seems a bit like a pipe dream at the moment. Let's see what these guys are made of. My advice: Never give the ball to the opposing team on purpose, i.e. always go for it on 4th and always use the on-side kick. Our D will not be able to hold Big 12 offenses playing the way it did tonight. I am really afraid of Baylor, OSU, OU, ... heck, I'm afraid of KU at the moment....

What the **** is so funny about losing to a FCS team? Michigan went out today and played 10 true freshman and handed a MAC team their ***. We lost to a team that has 30 less scholarships than we do. This is real life, not sunshine and rainbows. What happened tonight was complete ********. The fanbase was challenged and they have answered the bell. The team/program did not. This isn't even about talent. There isn't a position on the field that UNI has more talent than ISU. They have a better OC and offensive coaching than ISU. They also had a better defensive gameplan. This is after watching the game once and I do reserve my right to change that opinion once I watch again but I will bet good money that when I watch again I see an offense throwing darts at a playbook instead of an offense using any sort of constraint. Losing to a FCS is unacceptable. The worst part is that the staff knows that yet there is a portion of the fanbase that will just accept it and say "Well, they are a good FCS team."

This is complete and utter ******** as well. Half the ******* country runs this offense and makes it work. The teams that donb't have superior talent at all positions.
