ISU wins this weekend if they...

Not make mistakes and give up big plays. WVU is not patient nor very good at running the ball. Watching the OSU replay and was pretty boring. OSU up 30-10 but both teams making lots of bad plays. Then OSU gives up a blocked punt for a TD and a pick six in a matter of a minute to make it 30-24 and they apparently couldn't do much else.

I thought about that number being low, but I think he only needs to be ok instead of great for us to win. I think we're going to be able to run more this week, which should take some of the burden off the passing game. If he's connecting at 70%,I like us big.

Just think about this:

The ISU record for career completion percentage is Austin Arnaud. With .597%.

Kempt's lowest game is .600.

Gotta think at some point these teams start to consistently double Lazard, Eaton and/or Butler. ISU's passing game has been pretty straight-forward, essentially throwing at favorable 1:1 matchups. I love the strategy, but gotta believe that opposing coaching staffs are going to find a way to beat that eventually. So, if that happens to be Saturday, ISU needs to be able to run the football consistently to keep them honest. If ISU does that and limits mistakes like they have, I like our chances.

ISU 27, WVU 24 in a close one.

I'd love it if they used 6 guys to guard 3 of our WRs... that'd be dandy.

Definitely agree teams will start doubling, you would think, but the counter to that is they can't double them all. We will still have a favorable matchup somewhere, and that might be more DM out of the backfield.

Our offense hasn't been great, but there are weapons all over the field, so teams can't just take away one guy. All that said, if we run well, we win.

They can’t double them all, but if the Oline can’t run block and the QB has a weak arm, the windows still get very narrow.

How do you double Lazard Eaton and butler? That is why there is always a favorable match up.

They can’t double everyone, and that’s what is so tough about our offense. I think the way to shred West Virginia’s defense is to lull them to sleep a little bit. Start out with some quick slants and easy 5 yard plays, throw in a Trevor Ryen screen or 2, and obviously some DM runs and dump offs to get things moving (I saw them playing a bit of 3 man front with essentially 5 db’s in zone against OSU to stop the run and screen passes after they scored). After that is when you open the playbook up. I don’t think WVU’s defense can stay focused because they’re used to Big 12 offenses that score rather quickly with not much T.O.P. Get them to start playing impatient and aggressive, and then take some deeper shots with play action and double move routes.

Of course I know score more points than WVU, but what does everyone have for some keys to getting Win #7...

I would like to see some screen passes to Ryen when he is in motion into a double wideout set. have not seen this a lot and Lazard and Butler are great blockers that could get him to the edge.

At this point in the year every team knows the other team's tendencies. Look for us expand on the offense with some new wrinkles. I wouldn't be surprised if we run some fullback and direct snaps to DM to get the running game going. We got to start opening some holes that DM can hit on the run and get away from dancing around looking for an opening.

@TTU they scored quickly and then we marched down the field (complete with the stone cold 4th and 1 call) and scored and never looked back.

Thanks for essentially repeating what I said. :)

It's a good sign, as was ISU fighting through a mess to start the 2nd half last weekend.
