ISU vs Texas Tech Postgame

I think that the main thing that we can take away from this thread is that 1. we had a sick player, and 2. it was a good thing that there were only a few people in the arena to spread germs to the players and make them sick... er.

Agreed. Kane had a rough stretch, but came back solid. I'm somewhat worried that when things fall apart he often drives out of control in hopes of getting fouled. We may not get those calls when we play KU and OSU.
So he should change his style of play because of the possibility that at some point he doesn't get the call? Disagreed. My big problem with Kane, he needs to concentrate more on his free throws, and make sure his legs are into the shot. His stat line today, 6 assists, 4 steals, 3 turnovers. The team had 5. Granted, Kane takes more chances than anyone else on the team. But to me he is completely into making this team win. And they do.

Yeah, he did shoot 13 free throws on the road, so it kinda worked.

I think that to some extent I understand their frustration, as the Refs were not very good today. They felt like they were screwed at a critical time of the game, and they may have been, because for TT every minute of that game was a critical time of the game.

But the calls were bad both ways. Man man was getting body checked every time he drove and shot. and there is no way in HELL they tie that game without some very favorable calls during that stretch. The calls came pretty close to evening out though and certainly weren't 10 points difference. I won't say more than that on the officiating because I like Tubby and TT when we aren't playing them, to think the ref's lost them this game is just a joke.
The refs were bad, but TT certainly wasn't cheated, the bad calls went both ways.

exactly and to their credit, I should have checked their page before I even commented. Pretty tame comments and only 1 or 2 people saying anything about the refs. Whoever called them out is a little over the top. He posted every disparaging comment that he found. I thought they were "just a few of the Jems" Really mellow if you ask me. The Hawks cried way harder and had way less to complain about.

I had heard that it was BYOC "bring your own concessions" as the university or concession vendor would have lost a lot of money today. I thought I heard the PA announcer tell the crowd before leaving to pick up their trash and take to the nearest trash can before they left. I can only assume that it only filled one trash can.

Very good game. Texas Tech is much better than they have been in years past and we've always struggled down there. Hell, the spread was 6 points so in some ways we over achieved.

It's a Big 12 road win--whether by 1 point or 80 points I will take it gladly.

Anyone else glad Tech came back? Those types of moments test us and make us finish. We learn less from a blowout.

Good win!

Absolutely. Yet another game to give us confidence that when we're down a bit, we can come back. Also provides a lesson on needing to come out in the second have with intensity, especially on D.

My two cents- I think his game is a little outside what Fred wants to do with offense. Other than that, I think he would play more.

I think it is more that we were having trouble scoring so why put in Edozie (who doesn't score) and further handicap us. I understand his defense might have helped but I don't think his defense is good enough to overshadow is lack of offense.

No, that is why he is not playing 20 minutes/gm. Hell, if he was the type of offensive player we wanted he may be starting.
We are talking about sneaking a few minutes to get Georges a breather or to avoid fouls and poor play due to avoiding fouls. For example, subbing in prior to the TV timeouts. When he comes in for guys that are gassed or changing their game on both ends to avoid fouls we can afford to take the hit on the offensive end for a couple possessions.

My best friend's sister's boyfriend's brother's girlfriend heard from this guy who knows this kid who's going with the girl who saw Hogue pass out at 31 Flavors last night. I guess it's pretty serious.

I thought also the team showed something by pulling that game back under control in the second half with Hogue sick on the bench. That was not a bad team. They were as good as some of the teams we played in Hawaii.

I am amazed that you were able to trace that information. Perhaps you have a future with the CIA.

I'll also say that it is awfully fun to having winnign basketball again at Iowa State. Iowa State has never been 13-0. Never.

So much fun right now.

Question. I watched the game, but can't remember... did Thomas play much in the 2nd half? He was great in the first -- where we scored all his points -- and then what happened?

Not sure, I think it was part Monte playing too well to take out and perhaps needing Naz to fill in for Hogue.
