ISU vs. Mizzou 1990 Brawl

It sounds like Jim Walden’s teams knew how to play special teams and knew how to get into a brawl. It is amazing that no one got ejected or suspended and this reputation didn’t stick with any of those teams.

I'm breaking my self-imposed suspension to comment on this.

It was a pretty big brawl. My recollection is a Mizzou player went out of bounds and then allegedly intentionally trucked an ISU assistant and **** got pretty crazy. The entire Mizzou team sprinted across to the ISU sideline. The player who got the worst of it was Matt Rouse, and I remember that because I knew him at the time. A few Mizzou players got him separated from everyone else, got him on the ground and were kicking him and stomping on him with their cleats. It was very maddening to see. There WAS a Cyclone Express of this game, I don't know if it's on CTV or not.

Matt Rouse, the same guy that taught in the civil engineering department at ISU? That’s funny.

I forgot about that one. Didn't he go for two late in a blowout game, or something?

They were up like 42-7 or some score and with like a minute left he threw a bomb and ran the hurry up offense. He was seriously lucky to get out of that place without getting killed. On his way into the locker room people were throwing stuff at him. He looked legit scared.

It might have been the 50-28 game. It was late touchdown that was not needed.
