Anybody watching? We actually won the the first set!!!! Played not great, either.

Phillips got eaten up early. Gave up a couple aces in a row. Playing better now. 6-8 in the second.

They have no air, so it's like 90 degrees. Sweat is all over and causing problems.

watching the stats. Schaben destroyed them in the end of 1. 2 we're not looking as good.

Set 2 was awful. Served terrible. More Kuhrt and Capezio hitting into the block. Same @#$%. We lose 17-25. Never in it. Coach still playing musical chairs.

Well, that's weird, Jess hits right into the block to end a set. Same score, 17-25. Same stupid subbing, same setting, same result.

At least, coach started playing Bailey. She took Miranda out to serve? How could it be worse?

Just from the scores lately, it seems like we roll over and die pretty quickly.
Maybe I'm wrong, but it doesn't look like the best sign.

things get away from us more than they should.

it's not going to be a banner year so I'm taking it for what it is.

This will be the fourth straight year that's not a "banner" one...

which is coincidentally how long since we've had an elite setter. And this year we appear to have taken a step down from the elite liberos we've been spoiled by so that doesn't help.

That's as bad as we've played in a while. No mental toughness on this team. The hook that some players get for a mistake, is very different from others. Some players are expected to play through mistakes, while others see the bench. It's a double standard that's weird. The teams that have beaten us have players that know their roles. Short benches. We are trying to keep too many people happy. Find your top 8-9 players and go win. We're throwing true freshmen out there with limited playing time?

Watch where KSU finishes the season, they're not a great team, IMO. They had to get Reininger back to play that well. This could be long year for us. Our setting leads to teams having "amazing" nights. Both in their blocking, and our hitting percentage.

What's sad is, we have a 1st Team All-State Setter on the team who hasn't even been given an opportunity to set that I'm aware of. We've got some great hitters, but our setting is slow, telegraphed, and right into the blocks.

I do agree with some of these posts , but as an observer Berta was leading The entire Big 12 in defense after 6 matches then was taking completely out and now sitting the bench we need her passing defense and serve!
She was the best server on the team last year before she got hurt ,
And the best passer on this team for two years and now she's on the bench and it shows in our back row. It's obvious our back row is suffering and going backwards since she has went out.
We had fire the first few weeks of the season and we're not playing all the bad , we need a lineup and leave it and let them work through their mistakes and errors.
Tonight was awful The worst I've seen.

who is that? Hillegas or Hillmer? One of the main problems with Harris is that she's too short for the front row. They are both shorter yet. And neither would have been considered elite in high school. Absolutely agree on the telegraphing that handcuffs our hitters. Im putting a lot of hope into Mauck for next year. She's ranked about where Landwehr was coming in.

I was on the Berta train as well and couldn't understand why the swap was made. Watching them last weekend though, when Phillips was injured.........something has clearly changed and Berta is not where she was at the beginning of the season. There was a huge difference in passing when Phillips was back in the next morning. CJL has been bringing Berta back in for serve and rotations through the back row.

Alison took her lumps in the first season but was very good after that. Something to consider in regards to Mauck next year.

Berta suffers from the chip on her shoulder, IMO. I think she feels like she should have grandfathered in, but her play hasn't been there. Strikes me as a diva thing. I remember when she came in, she said in an interview that she'd be better than Kristen Hahn. Well, we're not quite there.

Our back line is terrible right now. I know coach wants to have Kuhrt back there, but she been all over in passing. Nobody is stepping up, hence why Capezio put on the libero jersey. That's bad.

And frankly, it wouldn't be so bad if we were slowing balls down. Grace isn't blocking where she should. Samara must still have lingering knee issues (which is a whole new thread, not her fault). So, Conaway is holding things up okay. Schaben is good sometimes, not others. Nobody else is blocking for &^%$, IMO. It's an effort thing. Where is the effort?

So far, you have called out just about all of the players as well as the coach. Any wisdom on the role of the assistant coaches, Joe or maybe the graduate assistant? I understand frustration - believe it of not, the girls feel frustrated too - but your negativity is frankly wearing thin.
