If you haven't seen already the match is on channel 623 if you have Directv. We need a better start and hopefully a better outcome than we had against KU on the road.

We got swept. Didn't really see that coming. 25-15, 27-25, 25-17. Which, is really bad when you consider the score in the 3rd set was tied at 13. This team kind of gave up in the 3rd. You could see it. Christy has her hands full. I don't know where the motivation is going to come from from here on? This team is playing really young, and they have no confidence. That was the danger of the tough schedule with 7 freshmen. They're freshmen. It's frustrating because there isn't leadership coming from anywhere. I don't get it. Their coaches had a player in front of most sets. We're predictable. I hope we figure out we can't impose our way of playing on opponents.

Was really worried we wouldn't win this, but was hoping we'd at least take a set. KSU is ranked well above us and we haven't played to the level it would take to beat them since Nebraska. And that game is looking more and more like an anomaly. We do have a few freshmen starting, but we are not getting the numbers and leadership from our more experienced players on a consistent basis- Straube, Hock, Hahn, Landwehr, Matlock. Shaping up to be a rough year :(

It was really hard to watch. I know I get negative, but it's because I care about it. Bigbee is too good an athlete to hit -.332 with only 1 kill. Malloy never played, I didn't know if she was hurt or what? The Knuth sisters had fire, at least. I like that, but the positives were pretty limited. This should not be a team flirting with an overall record of .500.

It just seemed like KSU's coaches did a really good job scouting us and taking things away. That, and we handled serve really poorly, Ludwig just killed us.

Malloy hasn't played much the last few games, I think. Bigbee got pulled pretty quickly. Taylor had a really nice night, glad to see that.

well outside of texas, KSU KU & possibly OU will be our toughest tests (as we found out) but at least we got some road games out of the way...I think this squad will improve over the season and hopefully will get a decent seed in the tourney.

Bigbee gets benched..ouch. Some good play from the Knuths lately though...building depth.

Malloy hasn't played because if she were to go in, she would play outside, mostly likely going in for Hock. But Hock is a senior and suppose to have that senior leadership. It's easier to take out a freshman who's playing bad than a senior.

I like Malloy's serving over Hock's, but I miss Hock being in the back row then. Rachel learned a lot in the back playing when her knee was hurt, and she is good there. Nolan is struggling on defense, Hahn and Hudson, too. Hudson has to know learn to know where the line is, she wants to play everything. We miss the serving of the seniors on last year's team, too.

Last years senior just had that attitude. They wanted to win, they believed they were gonna win and they won; even if they were down 11-5 @ baylor in the 5th set they still won(they still lost against texas but still). This years seniors just don't have that, to me, they look very unsure.

I think that's the danger of success. You have years of success as a program, and the younger players come in and think they don't have to work as hard. That's not what got us here. We need to really get after it. I believe we have the athletes.

Correct. The athletes are here, but something in the chemistry is messed up. We haven't been able to get a clear picture of exactly why certain things are not working (you can argue this, that, or the other for just about every problem), but it's clear things need to be sorted out.

Two years ago the chemistry was off and the team was up and down all season, culminating in that awful NCAA 1st round loss to Creighton in Minneapolis. There is much room for improvement and the talent to make it happen. But will it happen and on a consistent basis? We know they can beat good teams (Nebraska). We know they can lose to bad teams (Syracuse). What we don't know is why the wild swings. The clock is running on this season. Time to figure it out.

They need someone to replace Hock that can play backrow. If Malloy could play backrow well she would be in. Hock is lucky she has good backrow skills or she would be benched. Christy is in a bind this year. Too bad Willms didn't work out for her.

It's probably unfair to compare, but it's increasingly obvious that last year's seniors really helped make the team click. They were well-connected off the court, which may have helped on the court. You knew Carly would be hard to replace. She was a go-to player, and looking back, was probably even better than she got credit for. The Kelsey/Caitlin tandem though is turning out even harder to replace with newcomers. With their experience, they just consistently delivered, and did it with gusto. Kelsey was always a threat to put up a block (something they just can't get done this year yet), and had kind of slide move that could slam it hard into the opponent (they don't seem to be hitting as hard either). And Caitlin, she was a wily defender who covered a lot of space.

But all that's in the past. So hopefully this years team quickly finds its own identity, because they are too good to let other teams make them look so bad.

Straube has easily been the biggest mystery. She has not played well at all for the most part. Hahn and Hock have played well for the most part, Landwehr has been average at best.

The frosh (namely Nolan and Bigbee) have hit a wall but I think they will snap out of it soon

Another observation has been a lack of conditioning by some of the players, especially 3 of the front liners who shall go unnamed.

I think it is going to be awhile until Christy sees another freshman class like 2008. 4 of those 5 freshmen became starters the first year and the walk on (Jenson) went on to become All American. Quite a story for those young ladies.
