ISU vs KSU Postgame thread

It's not this year is about next year, last year was about the year before, but next year will be about next year, and the next year will finally be this year...promise...

You are right, losing Rashon and Jiri in 13 games probably means two more years to be tough as rain. AT and Craig and Hamilton will take awhile to groom as a group. Wes might have to go back to forward. So the three guards will have to be broken in with the current guards. Looks llike a long process of melding talents. We really need a tough big man recruit for next year.

That said, I think we can beat KSU with the same gameplan in Hilton.

KU - no way jose. We are not quick enough.

So did we just play six McD's all americans this week?

Why is it always about next year? Football, basketball, everyone always talking about next year ... until next year comes and we are in the same boat as this year, and the same people talking about next year when "help comes".

How long have you been a Cyclone fan? We're the biggest optimists. Next year will always be our year.

Looks like next year we'll be a finesse team. Buckley, Garret, Staiger, Johnson, and Brackins would be an interesting lineup. Team's speed would cause some matchup problems I'd think.

As others have said, the lack of rebounding astonished me. It looked like we would never even leave our feet! There were times when one KSU player would outrebound 2, 3, even 4 of our guys for the loose balls. Even the times we touched the ball first, we couldn't get a handle on it, and it bounced straight into KSU's hands. Lack of effort or just bad luck? Probably both.

This loss really depresses me....no committee would ever be impressed with 3 losses of 20+ points. It appears that we lack toughness, although it may appear that way because we are not athletic enough in certain spots. Whatever it is, I'm tired of looking forward to next year, now I'm going to go kick back a few and try to forget about this.

I can't believe people still think ISU has a shot at post season! Take it easy people, I do not see post season in Wesley Johnson's career at ISU. (He will be gone after next season). If that is the case, that will be 4 straight years with no postseason, how awful!

I don't know how people can say that Petey doesn't make mistakes. He continues to pick up his dribble about 5 times a game without a plan. That's point guard 101.

We need to relax, Colorado is up next and then a road game at Nebraska and 2 more home games after that. Could possibly be a 4 game win streak. Things would definitely be looking up then.....

That's basically how I'm looking at it. Now if we go 1-3 in those games I will expect frustration around here but I really think we can win 3 of those 4.

What a bummer IDK what to say. Where was this advanced GMAC playbook today I saw no offense, Defense was pathetic you can't play D flat-footed. We need to turn this horrible experience into something really positive for Colorado. If we can't pull out against Colorado sorry to bring the optimism down but I dont see us wining another game this year playing like this. There is no continuity with our team and coaches right now. Its pretty bad when announcers have to point out that you are not setting up offenses.

KSU's success on the court won't last. Beasley will be going pro, and maybe Walker. I don't see their recruiting classes being anything great in the future. Their last coach left them with a nice group of players, but it was a one season recruiting win since the coach left them. Just my opinion.

The exposure they are getting and will get will definately help recruiting. I'm sure Martin is recruiting his tail off to follow up this year. I wouldn't be suprised if he is able to sustain some success for a while. He looked to make some good coaching moves and again, their defense was outstanding, that could continue without Beasley and Walker.

Well, they have no players listed as commits for 2008, but the 2009 class has two 4-star players. Obviously if (when) Beasley and Walker go pro after this year, they will have 2 scholarships to offer, so it will be interesting to see who they can bring in to replace them.

Pullen really tore us apart pretty well off the bench, its too bad we didn't get him to come here.

We lost another game that we were supposed to lose. Whatever. The real games that matter are the 2 next week.

We just need to continue to improve so that next year we are able to hang with some of these teams. I mean when you look at some of the top teams that ISU has played we have not been close (Drake, KU, KSU) We have lost by more than 20 more than 3 times this year. The NCAA is totally out of the picture (anyone who thinks we still could make it is just highly optimisitic).

With that said there is still a lot of fun games ahead for this team. We COULD on a wild prayer end up in the NIT which would still be a great improvement for this team.

We have only made the NCAA tourny 3 of the last 11 years so it is not like this one is out of the ordinary. We just need to climb back where we can make it more like one of ever 2 or 3 years. That would be great.

Oh yeah.... another personal opinion.... Jiri has been the most disappointing player at ISU in a long time. His JR year was great the second half. Too bad he hasn't brought it in a big game ONCE this year. Oh well thats off my chest.

All of these games are learning experiences. This team will get better from all of the losses that happen this year. We obliviously know the future is with Wesley and Craig and they are the two who are performing on a regular basis. I am going to love this team next year. We can only learn from our losses this year and hope to build on them. This was a tough loss but we lost to a superior team tonight. Nothing to hang our heads on, just look towards the future and all I can see is a bright light. Just stick with it everybody and we will be cheering on this team late into March next year!!

14-4 (4-0)

I think for now K-State fan should enjoy the ride. He's really not that bad of a coach and with the season they are about to have he should have no problem recruiting.

We'll see - currently they have no recruits for 2008, and one recruit rated about what Brackins was for 2009.

With Beasley, and potentially Walker gone next year that team is going to look a lot different.

It's a huge dropoff from Beasley to Colon. Huge.

I enjoyed the last 8 minutes of the game. Our bench played alot better than our starter I thought even if it was against their bench. It was just entertaing and Haluska finally made that 3!
