ISU vs. Kansas State Game Thread

The schedule was not kind to us this year to start-already road games at arguably the 3 best teams in the conference-We need to make some hay in our next 5 games after tonight, like winning 4 of them-I think they're all five winnable if we play like we're capable

I don't think anyone doubted that KSU is a good team. I don't think many of us expected to be down 16 at the half. We played KU a tougher 1st half than this. We just can't get a stop when we need one.

We definately should be more in this game. If they keep plugging away, we might get it close. I think 16 points is too big a hole to dig out of. But, we need to give it a shot.

They are not being outclassed in the paint like I thought they would. Brackins is doing pretty good against Beasley, and Jiri just needs to drive to the rim. His guy is just not as good as Jiri is.

I don't see the problem being our defense as much as I do us not converting on our good looks and then going to the quick 3-point shots.

At least we're getting some of those to fall.

I think if we were down by 10 or so we could come back and make it interesting at the end of the game, but being down 16 is just too much.

Is it me, or is this game just nagging the **** outta me? It's so frustrating to hit a three, and then they come down and make one EVERYTIME!

I don't think KSU is that great of a team, we just are in a freaking annoying funk.

I'm not sure what gameplan we go to defensively. I think it was a good idea by McDermott to pack it in and make someone else besides Beasley beat us. The problem is the other KSU players have stepped it up and we still haven't stopped Beasley. You have to give vredit to KSU. They played really well that half.

Jiri is SO WEAK.

mcdermott needs to copy how ksu built their basketball program

Sell his soul for some out of control drunk thug that can't graduate a single player, hire some worthless assistants just because they can bring a good player in for a year, then bolt to another school leaving ISU with a bad coach just so they can taste a year of good basketball before the team he "built" all falls apart due to the NBA draft, flunking out of school, or being thrown in jail for carrying unpermited weapons?

I've always been critical of KSU for selling their soul to the devil for hiring Huggins, and I keep waiting for it to come back to haunt them... and so far, it hasn't at all. This is frustrating. I know we've never done really well in Manhattan, but down 16 at the break? Something's gotta give.

We may not win this game but we WILL beat KSU in Ames. I'm not impressed with their coach at all. All they do on offense is give it to Beasley and then pass it around the perimeter and shoot 3's. If they didn't have Beasley to feed off of, they wouldn't be near the team they are.
We've got to get a hand in their face on 3's. They are getting wide open looks.

We need to get back to going inside like we did early and drawing the fouls. Brackins needs to stop just throwing the ball up when he gets it under the basket.
