***ISU vs. Iowa postgame thread***

probably after our first 3 and out

Exactly.

The game started in the worst way it could for ISU: Iowa scores on its first possession, ISU goes 3-and-out, Iowa scores another touchdown.

The game couldn't get beyond a 10-point deficit, for there to be any chance. And that's exactly what happened (but worse).

Glad we scored a touchdown so we can stop hearing about the TD streak.

Glad this game is over so that we can get on with the rest of the season.

Shontrelle Johnson looked good on returns

ISU scored a touchdown

Everything else was PATHETIC.

I saw nothing special.

I didn't either. Fans should quit elevating Iowa to super status just to make our performance look better. We stunk.
It's also puzzling to me that Rhoads and Herman talked all pre-season about how Arnaud is a much better QB than last year. Huh?

1) Nothing really done by the coaches to counteract Iowa's strengths, especially on offense. Failing grade for the coaches. Herman's offense is really bland. Maybe he just doesn't have the QB to unleash his offense. Or maybe there is nothing to unleash...

1a) Coaching...I know it was nice to get a TD and all, but wouldn't it have been good to get Tiller some snaps against a good team?

2) AA...let him start 3-4 more games. If there is no improvement, there is no reason to continue with him as starter. At this stage in his career, the lightbulb is very unlikely to come on. Give the next guy in line some experience.

3) Looking around the Big 12, KU and OU improved from week 1 to week 2. ISU regressed. There needs to be major improvement before next week, or that game won't be close either...

Instead of you can't score, it will be you can't score on our starters and it takes your 1st string offense against our 2nd and 3rd stringers to score.

LOTS of arguing amongst players on along the ISU bench. Not to mention Leonard Johnson screaming at teammates on the field. This bothers me.

Much better that they are yelling and screaming with each other than just sitting there and taking it.

Hey, I'm looking reeeal hard to find positivies.

we are a garbage football team, Iowa isn't that good, we are not good at all. we finish 5-7 for the season.

Sorry, I know it's easier to say that Iowa isn't that good, but in fact, they are pretty damn good. They could possibly win all their games. They really don't have any weaknesses that I could see.

With that said, we are still not where we need to be talent wise. Especially on D. We are often able to over perform on D, by getting TO's etc and doing well in the Redzone, but against a bigger/stronger/faster team, we are overwhelmed.

I really don't see us making any significant jumps in results until Paul can get some upgraded talent. We do about as well as we can with what we have from a talent stand point.

Iowa gets 3-4 players drafted year in and year out and a couple more free agents to boot.. We usually get 0-1 late rounder and a free agent or so. That's why we can't score TD's against them and they can run the ball down our throat all they want.

I really like AA as a person, he's a great kid with a good head on his shoulders. He's going to be successful at whatever he does when he graduates.

But ... overall he's not been a good QB for this team, he has almost no touch on his passes. Why is he throwing 90mph fastballs on a lot of the short routes? Just leads to deflections and picks. And he has trouble feeling pressure sometimes. Bottom line, too many TO's, which kills the team.

To be fair, the O line almost got him killed today too, so it's not 100% on AA. I would like to see Tiller more, but I doubt that will happen.

+1E35, on both points...

Against a top ten team at their house and we play them 7 -7 in the second half!

Put aside the first half and it was actually a good effort. PR has us headed in the right direction.

Our play in the second half was a step forward.

The same thing is going to happen in Norman and Austin. Teams like Iowa, OU and Texas are just miles ahead of us. There isn't another team left on the schedule outside of those three however that I don't think we can compete with. A good season is still within grasp but today was pretty embarrassing
