ISU vs Drake Game Thread

Time to open another beer and watch Iowa lose again. Or maybe I could listen to Drake's radio guys some more since it's been such good entertainment.

Great offensive game. 47 points out of the 2 spot is HUGE for this team.

Turnovers were better, but the defense was worse than the first two games. They seemed to get too many good looks.

Huge "statement win". Drake was favored in this game and the Clones crushed them even without Dendy. Great win. Look out EUI and UNI!

What is great is that due to depth we can have an off night by one of our better players and still win. Maybe next week Lucca is off and Gilstrap is hot...

I also think that sometime when Gilstrap is in the game it changes the defense look being played on Craig. Not sure if that is true, but I think accounting for Gilstrap is big. Also, when the other players garner more attention, they may be forced to play their 3-4 best defender on Gilstrap and he'll be able to score even more.

That's a tough choice...but I think I'll open up the FAR book instead...:)

What I saw with the defense... it was good when it had to be... but otherwise was lacking.

We had a good stretch in the first half when things were tight. We then went on cruise control in the second until the timeout. Immediately afterwards the effort came back and we shut them down again. I don't think it's about ability but about learning to keep things going and about "maintaining intensity" to not let teams get back into games. This was a good learning experience and like to see that when they had to... they did. Now it's just learning to do it all the time.

I also think Drake got a little lucky... although we could have stopped the opportunity to get lucky.

This is a really good ISU team. I think they could get to third place in the Big 12...or maybe second. I am not as big on Texas as some are

critical to have this + attitude by Big XII play.

Staiger is so deadly that his enemy would go blind from his overexposure of pure awesomeness....and there is no charge for his awesomeness

If Lucca shot like that every game, this team may never lose.

MG needs to slow it down. He is just trying too hard or something.

This has me worried about MG. It is well documented he has one chance to show the big boys in the league he can play, and I think he might be pressing a bit. I imagine he will slow things down and let the game come to him as he gets more comfortable playing D1 ball.
